    Hello,
Well first thing, I need to see is your link, so i can take a look. But, also alot of it would depend on your market and what your website is going to be about. I mean different markets require different visual aspects to be appealing, what market are you in and what type of company do you run?

You obviously used one of the microsoft templates which makes it look very bland.

There is no logo which is what the site definately needs so that visitors know what the site is about as soon as they arrive.

If I were you, I would learn HTML and CSS and then make your own site from scratch. Alternatively, you could get some hosting and use Wordpress and then ust design a good header for your site.

That template doesn't fit for game site, change the template. There are many free game template that are much more better than that. You could learn how to make your own site from scratch, but this takes time.

i recommend getting ahold of photoshop . If you aren't using scripts and are using plain html to edit the content I will recommend getting a set of scripts with an admin panel and then integrating a new template with them.

Microsoft templates aren't look great, most of them. your site is a game site, you need to find a game template. This is your first website but you will learn and you will make your own template.

Check out Joomla. I recommend it to all aspiring web designers. If you can learn how to work your way around setting up a Joomla site in conjunction with learning HTML/CSS, you will prosper quickly.

If you want that it would look a professional website here are my opinions.
    1. Background is very boring, try to make a background that looks nice and which is simple.
    2. Change the buttons style to look little bit more professional, if you don't know how I suggest to study buttons in different websites
    3. Take off all wide lines
    4. Make the text more clean, I have notice that some of your subheaders are bolded and then the number is not bolded, this create little bit confuse in subheader
    5. Position Adsense ads into left side and not in right side, I know that right side is getting the best attention to ads, but think the readers first.
    6. Change the template that will fit to your purpose.

    I hope those helped you.

I saw your website. I think you need to reDESIGN it. First, the lower part of your website is too big. Second, It loading so slow. You have to do something on the image size and how you'll "call" it.

I second using Joomla. There are many free templates and a few that are very cheap which can make your site look very good and very professional. Good luck!

Well done. I think the website looks great for a first effort.

I would suggest trying to sort out the header & footer as they don't quite align with the rest of the page and seems to stand out (well it did for me anyway). I would also consider removing the gap between the header and the page content.

Lastly, I would consider playing around with the colour scheme of the page content, i.e. the white/orange/brown. A darker page colour with a bright text colour can be very effective and is commonly seen in gaming websites. However, at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference.
