Do you think having adsense affects ranking at all?

I have this theory that websites with google adsense get a tiny tiny boost in rankings. It would make sense right? Giving websites with google ads a little handicap? Does anyone know more about this or if google doesn't really add this to its factor at all.

I mean, its a theory, and would make sense in the short term for google. Problem is that its not really going to help them too much in the long term. There are a crap-ton of sites that are MFA- Tons of sites that have little or no content but have adsense. If google did this and it negatively affected the quality of their search listings, people might turn to other SEs?

No, it doesn't give you any boost whatsoever. I believe it has the potential to impact a site negatively - not directly, but indirectly. Google has hired over 10,000 people to do manual reviews of sites and a site with a bunch of ads could help get your site a negative review if it gives the impression of a site with a poor user experience. Too many people make the mistake of loading their pages with every possible ad they can.

No I don't. I've ran Adsense from the very beginning of the program on multiple sites and Google will still lower/raise rankings with or without it. I think it would be a bit "corny" for them to use this as a factor.

If you are talking about Adsense, then I totally disagrees

But if you are talking about Adwords the my thought on this is

Adwords gives you a boost of traffic and make people aware of your website

If they find it useful, they will link back to you and give your websites Google love for the keywords thus improving your page ranking

I don't think it makes any difference - although I can see your theory behind it. Google would never admit it even if it did anyway

Well, I put Adsense on my website a couple of weeks back. The SERPS have gone REALLY bad. So, I do not support this theory :)

It doesn't give any boost to rankings. The adsense factor only helps you gain money, and that's it. One drawback of using adsense is that when a user clicks on the adsense, he moves out opf your page. That increases chances of high bounce rates and loosing potentially good customers who might have otherwise bought a service from your site.

It doesn't boost your rankings at all. Neither does adwords.

Your theory is wrong because adsense has no effect on your rankings. SEO + backlinks and your content does.

I would think not just having adsense impacts your site, if you have a small amount of ads then it should be okay but lets say you have pages of just ads and no content then its bad

I can only speak from what I have seen. I had one site in particular that got a fair amount of traffic. I put adsense on it and traffic dropped dramatically. It might just have been that people hate the look of adsense these days... I know I do!

All I've noticed is that my site was indexed/cached more often adsense code was installed.

    Its not actually.
Adsense uses javascript and that has no effect on rankings.

This theory is insane. :D Adsense on site/blogs have no effect in search engine ranking. Even in indexing, they have no benefits or whatsoever.

Adsense has nothing to do with your ranking. If you break Google terms then they would banned you.
