Godaddy vs Namecheap: Which is Better?

Currently most of my domains are registered with Godaddy. Just lately, I am lured to transfer some of these domains to Namecheap. But I am a bit hesitant since I never have had any experience with Namecheap. I notice that Namecheap offers a very cheap privacy protection (in fact free for first year registration) whereas Godaddy charges it at $8 plus a year.

May I know your experience with Namecheap? Both Godaddy and Namecheap have competitive pricing rate, but Namecheap offers a better deal in terms of privacy protection. Let me know what your thoughts are concerning Godaddy vs Namecheap (comparison).

I registered all my domains at Namecheap and I never had any problems with them... also, they accept payment from unverified paypal. I didn't have any experience with Godaddy..my choice is Namecheap.

If you valued it based on private whois feature, then why not you go with name.com coz they provide free private whois for life as long as you host domain with them.

In my opinion Namecheap is better. Also if you are going to register your domains with Godaddy, first go to Nodaddy.com and read a couple of horror stories of them and their tactful way of doing business.

On the other hand, I recently found out that in your namecheap domain account you can easily change the password and associated email account without even requiring to confirm that change in the associated email account (Namecheap doesn't send a email telling you to click a link to change the password or associated email account). Is it the same with Godady?

    Name.com is another good one.

I have domains registered at Godaddy and Namecheap. In term of pricing Godaddy offer slightly cheaper then, Namechap compensate that as you say by offering cheaper privacy protection.

I've been using Namecheap for over 8 years now without any problem. But it's better if you could keep some of your domains at Godaddy - just in case. :D

Lets break it down into business ethics:
    If you are concerned about:
privacy and security (free whois) - namecheap.com
    cheap domain prices - namecheap.com
    frequent discounts/coupon codes - godaddy
    better customer service - namecheap
customer being first priority - namecheap
clean and easy registration process/interface - namecheap

And yes, you can grab free domains from namecheap in their twitter trivia contest ATM. I managed to win 8 free domains from them. Check out the contest here: http://www.namecheap.com/contest/?a=twit

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for sharing your ideas on Namecheap. I just transferred one domain to Namecheap last night. 9 More will be moved to Namecheap. I believe I am making the right decision in opting for Namecheap.

Some claim both are equally good...ok:
So the best measure to judge them would only be negative/positive reviews on the net.
Namecheap and Godaddy both have equal positive reviews. But when it comes to negative reviews, Godaddy rules (meant to be sarcastic lol) :D
There are even anti-godaddy dedicated websites set to expose the unnatural business ethics of this registrar. Maybe you can have a look at some of this anti-godaddy websites and then decide for yourself...
