Hello Everyone.. My new wordpress blog ->> http://www.decentsms.com almost every page is list on google except categories pages which are not getting index by google. is there anyone who knows the real reason behind this?
You might want to try the WordPress google-sitemap-generator plugin, and in the settings select categories to be included in the sitemap. That should get google to index your categories.
Your robots.txt allows indexing of categories. Your site map also has category pages. Unless you changed these settings recently, your category pages should have been indexed
thanks ddzc! jitendraag, this file robot.txt, what should be in it, I mean what should be written in to for our categories to be indexed?
You have all in one seo plug-in installed. You should go to settings. There is an option there that says no follow when talking about categories. This will make your categories get out of search engines, which is something you surely do not want. All in one SEO plug-in comes with default settings. "Use noindex for Categories" is ticked as default. NoFollow for tags is not ticked as default. You should un-tick Use noindex for Categories if you want your category pages to be indexed. This should solve your problem. Leave it a couple of days and your category pages will get indexed.
Then if you use http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/ Go to Google Webmaster Tools and add your sitemap there. If the category pages are not indexing there might be a problem with the fact that you do not really have enough back links to your site. If you get a number of back links to a site and your category pages are well put in the site map (which they probably are) then they will appear. It is common that some category pages do not appear and others do. How many posts do you have in each category? If they are not many then Google might think that the pages are not worth indexing. For instance, Father's Day SMS is very small as a page Then we have the duplicate content problem. Google will index sites with duplicate content at a lower speed than unique content. Do you update your site often? This will also count At the end of the day, if that use no index is not ticked, you created a sitemap, put it into google webmaster tools, changed the settings for category pages to be indexed (in the sitemap plugin) on a weekly basis and you have enough back links to your main page (and even category pages, why not? - put description for categories - even better) they should appear in search engines in around 7 days, especially those categories that get updated often
hmmm, I think we are talking about a different sitemap plug in. I am using this: http://www.arnebrachhold.de/redir/sitemap-home/ If this is the one you are using - settings - XML-Sitemap and you have a whole bunch of options there. Make sure sitemap content includes everything and in Chang Frequencies put Daily under Categories. This definitely should work if you have enough back links.
try this one then I use it and I never had any problems with any indexing. On the other hand keep in mind that you really need back links in order for the category pages to get indexed fast
