First off..thanks for reading this thread! I sure would appreciate any feedback on my first "landing page" makingonlymoney.com The link is a redirect to a free site...I have been working on it (on a free website) and when I believe I am done (lol hopefully with help from you guys/gals) I plan on getting it on hosting! Sure would appreciate any feedback on the "visual" look, loading time, keywords and coding! Also if anyone can help me "center" the free "social bookmark" script..been trying everything but no success! Thanks
The pictures are distorted. The picture size in the code should be the same as the actual pictures, or at least the correct ratios of width to height.
Thanks for your response squadron! I am guessing your referring to the "dollar bill" img...not sure how to exactly fix your "width to height" ratios suggestion? Also sure would like to know which browser you are using (those that respond to this thread..sorry should have mentioned this in my first psoting)
Here's my opinion. I'll start from the top. Dont put/add any links on your soft landing page (SLP). You don't want your prospect (website viewer) to click on and taken to something else. Have a headline preferably in bold, tahoma font, an in red #cc000. Headline is to be promising something make it stick out. Make it so that they have to enter their name and email address into a form before going onto the main page. This is a good way of building a list and also it's great having a list of potential buyers at your finger tips. MWAHAH! Design wise. A soft landing page doesn't need all of them crappy pictures either. If you are going to use pictures only use the same image once and try to make it look web 2.0.. add shadows, gradients, strokes, gloss, Etc Etc . On a phycological note, its easier for the human eye to see black text on a white background. Perhaps change your font from blue to black and your bg to white instead of gold. I would start with them changes... Hope it all helps
Thanks for your opinions mat181, I appreciate them! I should maybe explain my purpose about the soft landing page! I belong to a small forum (small afflaite niche ) and lately I have been giving away some of my domains for redirects to members of this "forum" who are less fortunate than I am...stay-at-home mom etc! So I decided that instead of redirects..why not try to develope a soft landing page and have a contest on that forum where the members can submit the reason why they would like to have their affliate links on that domain! Hoping that by having their link on this site they can get a little extra money from referrals! Most of these members are real new to "getting affliates" (don't know how to make a "keyword URL link" etc)..Anyway that basically is my intention of that sort landing page! So hopefully that will explain why there are links there great idea given above but pretty sure that it doesn't apply here! Yes you are so correct about the images being crappy but best that I can do.. Thanks again for your feedback..I appreciate your expert advice!
Hey there crazeeten, I just double checked..the sites working for me. The only thing that might have happened was when you visited my site, I was working on it at the same time, ( I don't know if that is the reason but it is the only explanation that I can think of)
The goal of search engine optimization (SEO) is to leave few landings to chance. The content of the page and/or links to the page are optimized for very specific, carefully researched keywords and phrases. Those keywords and phrases that are of most value for "organic" or "natural" search engine optimization are those most likely to be used by prospective customers in their search engines. Good choices will cause the site to rank higher in search engine results.
The ads on the top left are annoying. Make the content more above the fold. The pictures and text together (layout) look unprofessional and quite amateurish. Try looking at other sites and copying their styles.
Thanks for all the responses to this thread! I sure appreciate the help and tips! Great tip..I will try to change that free RSS feed (If I can find where I generated it) I will also change the ads background color! If I understand correctly..those ads should be gone. I just moved the site from a free hosting to a paid hosting! Hopefully the content will look better placed should you take another look! Sure would appreciate more suggestions/help etc from my fellow members!
I think the design could use some serious work. Presenting the content in a likeable manner is what attracts people to the site.
Sorry it took me so long to respond..just got my computer fixed! myinsanedeal...can you tell me what browser you are using? Thanks again for all the input!
