forum posting for seo?

i'm thinking about hiring a forum poster or forum posting company for seo purposes. It looks like most people are using forum posting services just to build the forum that they own. does anyone suggest using a forum posting services for seo reasons? if so, which service?

What do you meant by 'for SEO' purposes?
Hiring to post in your own forum to generate content, or posting in others forums with sig links, or another method?

a lot of forums have "no follow" attributes next to the links meaning that search engines don't see them as links.

like MattUK said, please explain what you mean by SEO purposes.

seems like a waste of money to me. how much money do you pay someone to do that?

also how will you verify that they have been doing it. Forums do provide links provide there is no "no follow" attribute, but i think you are better paying for directory listings or something along those lines.

you can hire me to do that if you want...

i was looking at inb0x. i did some research in a couple forums and they seem to be the most reputable. Plus they give you a login where you can view how many posts have been made as well as the usernames that are used (so you can check). Cost is about $0.30 per post.

IMO, your marketing dollars are better spent elsewhere. What kind of ROI are you expecting with something like this?

Well if you are trying to generate some content for your own forum, you can pay few bucks otherwise it is a complete waste of money in my openion.

Link building is a serious thing ;)

Paying forum posters is no different than hiring anyone else to build content for your website.

Sig links can be very effective.

Not many forums have nofollow commands on sig links.

You might be better off buying sig space from existing members of forums. I know the alive directory buys/rents people's sig space here at DP. You could do the same.

Personally I think the money would be best spent on paying posters in your forum. If it's not busy it'll be hard to convice people to post themselvs.

Forum sigs on other forums won't generate many visitors and many people believe (myself included) that forum links are devalued for SEO purposes.

forum posting will do good but it would be better if you do it yourself instead of hiring others. at least you get the chance to explore and learn from it. Do not focus on forums alone. Try posting advertisements and much better create articles and press releases which helps in promoting your site as well as increasing traffic.

i sort of agree with both of you. i think the sig links have value and drive some traffic, but it is only worth it to pay forum posters if it is for a forum that you own.
