My Formula For Getting "Decent" Pagerank

OK folks, first I would like to say that I finally succumbed to the fact that pagerank has nothing to do with serps. BUT.... for those still infatuated with pagerank I will give you my formula for achieving a good pagerank.

    The Facts:
    1) The site: www.floridacarsonline.com
    2) Current Pagerank : 4
    3) Site hasn't been updated in 5 months
    4) Site Is Only 10 months old
    5) I do have a few hundered links, but they are low quality directory links

    My formula:

    1) Pagerank Sculpting: "No follow" contact us and other similar pages so pr will flow to relevant pages. Also add nofollow tags to any external page with a pr of 3 or less (unless of course it's one of youre and you need some juice) ;)

    2) Find a few big dogs to link to and DO NOT use "nofollow" tags. This was a car dealer site so we linked to companies like KBB, fuel economy.gov etc... (Google tells us all the time to link to quality sites, and they mean it)

    3) Be sure to have a few paragraphs close to the top pf the page the babble away with keywords, but make it readable for humans as well in case you ever get a human Google audit ;) - Don't worry, only .0003% of your visitors will actually read it.

    4) Make text links in your paragraphs directing to your deeper pages and text links from your deeper pages to other deeper pages

    5) Obviously get an xml sitemap and submit to the big three, but don't forget a good old fashioned text sitemap. I still believe that you get indexed faster this way, but that is my opinion
    6) Lastly make the coding clean and be sure to have SEO Friendly URL's

I had this website created when I worked for this dealer. They had an existing website they paid over $300,000 for (3 year contract). Yes folks, that was not typo...300 g's. This little site blew it away

Their existing site got about 30 uniques a day, this one gets between 200 and 300. I left there last July because the car business is not a fun place to be. The new guy who took over after I left has no idea on how to edit it and I told him I'd train him for $500.00 an hour ;)

Anyway, their hosting is up in February so that site will go the the internet morgue shortly!

It would be nice if someone could get me some rep ;)

I can understand why this might be a factor in Google trusting your site more, but don't quite believe that it has anything to do with pagerank. Whoring out links on your site might make you lose pagerank, but the reverse doesn't hold true.

    Thanks for your great info.
Regarding the car dealerships, the owner and GM's are a breed for themselves. I worked for a dealership in C.FL, 3 times, the same, every time a new manager came, adios, and every time the GM called me back after 3 months or so. They just use the sales people like here today, gone tomorrow. and regarding the website you did, you are correct. They rather pay a for a new one and forget what they have.

You are not "whoring out links" when you point to PR 8 sites. I've tested on numerous different sites and the only difference between this site and a similar one is not having external links to high pr sites.

Google wants the internet to be "linked together", and it just makes sense. I know it can be hard to swallow, but it worked here.

What I meant to say was :-

1.) Site X links to all and sundry- even ones terribly irrelevant to X's niche.

2.) Site Y links to few relevant sites ( including the authority ones)

I can understand while Google might trust Site Y more than Site X, but I don't think that it will improve site Y's Page Rank.

When I said not whoring out, I meant not linking to just about any type of site ( pills, viagra...you know the drill)

Even if it did affect the algorithm, it would account for a very small part of it.

What was the PR of the site that did not link out to authority sites in your test?

It's a strange observation. I had a few similar sites and did some testing. The one with the links to external high ranking sites with a follow tag seemed to give it a boost
