I thought that having 25 websites, and cross-linking them to eachother -- can get you penalized on Google.

I am now starting to think Google won't penalize you --- in fact it will boost you

    Check out these sites:

BostonPads dot com (ranks #1-3 for Boston Apartments)
BackBayPads dot Com (ranks #1 for Back Bay Apartments)
SouthEndPads dot Com (ranks #1 for South End Apartments)
MissionHillPads dot com (ranks #1 for Mission Hill Apartments)
BrightonPads dot com (ranks #1 for Brighton Apartments)
MedfordPads dot com (ranks #1 for Medford Apartments)

This owner has about 10-15 more that rank #1 for certain neighborhoods

Can you guys tell if they are all on the same IP?

I checked the Whois info, it looks like its all registered under the same person

Is this proof that there is no crosslinking penalty?, and in fact Crosslinking boosts your ranking??!

Ahhh see yes Im glad I posted this, so I can do my research

3 different c class ips... what does that mean, and how do you know???

If they were all on the same IP can you be penalized??

Does anyone have any experience with this or have heard of any penalization, etc.?

Cross linking is good if the sites are related. Having them on different c class ips would also be ideal.

Do you think if I cross-linked 25 related sites, do-follow, etc. -- it would be ok??? I keep hearing about a possible penalty for this but many say its a myth

Yes, I also tend to agree. The first position of one of my keywords: Monografia, presents a heavy cross linking to other websites of the same owner, all of them within the same IP.

I'm trying to implement the same tactic to my websites, but just for sure I won't cross link the indexes, just the other webpages, and just some of them every week to avoid Google penalty.

So, let's see what happens, but I have hope.

Have them spread across different c class IPs and you'll be fine.

If you have all sites on the same IP they may or may not rank better in serps, but if you have them on different c class ips and you do everything correctly, you're almost guaranteed to rank.

P.S. Remember also that google is a registrar, so it may be good if not all the domains you have are registered on your name. This is more a speculation than anything else, but if you look at it with logic it may well be a factor in google's algorithm.

Just because they are cross linked doesn't mean its the cross links that are giving the sites good rankings. It could be other links to the sites. However there probably isn't a penalty. Why would there be if the content is related and relevant. That is what google likes.

Usually backlinks from relevant websites / pages won't hurt your ranking even if it's owned by the same person.
However, IP addresses is one of the factors to avoid a certain penalty ;)
