Domain names that contain two hyphens ( domain--name.com )

Im thinking about buying a domain name that contains two hyphens but Ive never dealt with a domain name with this style. Will there be any negative consquences of using a domain with two hyphens?

    Example: keyword1--keyword2.com

Keyword 1 and 2 are what I am trying to rank for. This will be used for SEO, does anyone have experience using a domain with two hyphens?

I would think you'd lose a significant proportion of potential visitors to whomever owns the single-hyphen and unhyphenated versions. Quite apart from all the other problems of not being able to control what might be on their sites (where some of your visitors will first go) in the longer-term. I must say I wouldn't dream of it, myself.

(I have absolutely no idea from the SEO perspective, though).

google looks at the hyphens as spaces , so two spaces between the keywords don't think will hurt. As from an SEO prospective, what's $10, register the domain and test it out, you might find something that most SEO people don't know about...

    good luck!

This domain IS NOT going to be used for branding, strictly SEO.

If you don't care about branding then it could be worth a try.

I wouldnt build a long term site on it though because even if it worked good for SEO now it's the kind of thing Google might start penalizing at any time.

One is okay, imo. Any more and you'll end up with a black eye.

I don't think it will a good idea to take such domain name. One hypen between keywords is excellent , but two hypens....:confused: I don't think you will get that much benefit. Moreover this is not user friendly.

I also think -- is not right. You should try to invert the keywords or add another keyword until you find an available domain to match your needs

I usually avoid hypens alltogether, but for SEO it might not matter.
