My blog is third in google

So i made a blog a couple of weeks back based on wordpress, it's a Manchester United blog called Talk manchester united.

So if you type in google Talk manchester united - my blog displays in third place (or 4th or 5th sometimes) out of 3,000,000 + results which i think is pretty good (but i'm new to blogging all together, so i wouldn't know).

I think it's displaying in 4th place when writing this thread. So i'm just looking for information on how i could promote it better, maybe get it higher to second or first place, i haven't even got a lot of content on there neither have i got any backlinks so this is all done from the domain i believe.

I'm working on a custom design and will soon implement google adsense when it starts recieving traffic, i think it's had near 100 unique visits so far without any promotion.

What do you guys think? I don't update it often either, what keywords do you think i should work on?

To Be Honest! you are wasting your time optimizing the wrong keyword the term Talk manchester united hard gets any searches thats why it is easy to rank for such keywords.

Choose keywords with decent traffic/day and relatively lesser number of results it's tough to find but with a little research you could find 1or 2 for sure

I'd recommend you using Market Samurai (google it and download its trail version) for Keyword Research

 

I wasn't really optimizing the keywords at all i just typed it in google one day just curious to know, i'll take in your information thanks very much

If it brings you traffic then its cool, if not then....

TRy and get it ranking for many keyword phrases, use https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal type in manchester united information or something, get ideas and get backlinks with those keywords and phrases, submit to web directories for backlinks.

Make sure you have content based on the keywords too.

i agree with ZeroSleep, it's not a good ranking for talk ... keywords. you compare your daily visits , if you find that your uniq visitor growt day after day, so you are in the correct way. if not , try to optimise search by tagging content.
anyway keep posting.
