There's lots of other ways, Yahoo, MSN adcenter, 7search, ABC search, Miva, Findology and several other second tier ppc engines.

    :)

My top 2 choices are Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing although I've read recently that MSN has good conversions.

I would vote for Adwords. Much higher traffic, more targeted possibilities.

Adwords is still confusing for me, sometimes it brings much traffics for my new adv, but some other no impression at all especially when I target certain countries. I am still learning by doing, but so far adwords is the best.

Robert hit the nail on the head, you need to have someone that knows what they are doing. We didn't get much return when we ran ads but it's likely from our own ignorance. Depending on your budget it may make sense to hire one of the Google endorsed professionals.

you wanted to know if google adwords was the best way to get traffic

    my answer was yes

my follow up was that it is usually only good traffic to those who know what they are doing. Meaning, that adwords is a good way to get traffic, but many people get burned because they think its like taking out an ad in a phone book. Set it and forget it...

The truth is, if you do not know anything about adwords, your money will probably be spent without seeing a single sale and you will end up coming back here saying adwords sucks and doesn't provide any results, which is incorrect. It does provide great results, but only to those who know what they are doing.

Is your money going to be wasted without an endorsed professional? Probably, unless you spend the time and money to learn the system before getting started, and even when you start putting in money, you have to be prepared for the giant learning curve and the loss of money until you learn how to use the system properly.

@Lastbutnotleast - Im not hurting for clients, nor worried about if that comment will get me a new client. Its just a simple straight to the point answer to the question that was asked. I provide lots of helpfull advice and teach many members here how to do things properly.

The problem is that you could write this comment ("yes it is... but usually only to those who know what they are doing" ) on many threads started by new comers on DP
