relevancy depends on the content and is not restricted to your domain name

The domain with more content and links pointing to it will show up as more relevant. :)

From a specific point of view of the domain name, if you were to rank your site for "Affiliate Marketing" as a keyword, www.affiliate-marketing.com would be better. On the other hand, you can use them both as the domain name is only a part of SEO that you need to do. I would personally choose the second domain name

Thanks guys. I had though that with dashes would be better. I'm trying to rank for a long tail keyword that still gets 20,000 searches per month. The best part is that the number 1 result for that keyword only has 33 back links! I do figure though that I can beat sites with a ton of back links by having more specific keywords then they do, and this is why I am so concerned about the domain. I figure that if:

    My domain is affiliate-marketing
The website's title is affiliate marketing
The post is called affiliate marketing

And I have text on the body of the page that begins with affiliate marketing,

Then I will rank more highly with fewer back links then a website who has optimized for the phrase "affiliate programs"

Not that I'm actually trying to rank for 'affiliate marketing', I'm just using that as an example.

both looks alright to me and you can go with any of them. For branding purpose too, both looks alright :)

Though avoid double hyphens, they look spammy.

don't bother that much with dashes.
One of my site contains two dashes in domain and still ranking number one in Google SERP for a highly competitive keyword.
Its the content and the backlinks which counts most.
