Do you think adding 'online' is an ok idea? The domain I want is taken, ie superbirds.com, what do you think of superbirdsonline.com? Is it ok or do you think it's redundant?
Hi, What are 'superbirds'? And is 'online' relevant to them? If so, then there's no problem with the domain. If 'online' is not relevant it's still no biggie as it still contains your target keywords 'super' and 'birds'. Cheers, Dean
Hi--it was just an example, it's not my domain. The domain name I wanted is already taken, so I meant is it ok to add 'online' to the domain, ie scooterguideonline.com if I was looking for scooterguideonline.com Online isn't relevant, no. Thanks for the advice
Can't see any problems with that. Domain names are way down the list for priority. There are more important factors.
Even if it's not directly related to your niche - ex. "onlinetools" - I think it's still OK to combine "online" with your main keywords, especially if you call it an online guide.
more importantly is if people can remember it for marketing purposes I dont think the actual domain name has that much relevance for seo
it's kind of cheesy, IMO. Unless the product or service you're going for is related to "online" business, and the word going before it is a generic dictionary word, I'd keep looking for something better.
ok good point thanks Mark, the page is a sales letter and not an online guide so I guess I'll leave out online and look for other words.
I don't think "online" is a great choice, but it at least works if it is a logical description of what you are doing with the website. But just because the website is "online" doesn't make it a good word to use in the domain. For example, a city portal might be called CityOnline. But if you have a site that is a directory of names, physical locations and telephone numbers of plumbers in the city, it would seem odd to call the site CityPlumbersOnline, particularly if very few of the listed plumbers even have websites that you can link to.
