What is everything that makes you go back to a site to visit it twice or more times? I want to make a site and I have an idea, I just want to see if it's worth it. I don't want to waste a lot of time. Thanks, Mike
If it has content/information that is constantly updated like I search with google but constantly use msn for stock quotes and news.
So in order to make money from a site, it needs daily updated content? The one I was thinking of wouldn't be a blog-like site. The problem w/ my sites is I can't think of what content to put in there. I just don't think that I know enough about the process. I know HTML and CSS...but do most people use site templates or design their own site? I don't get it.
I use WordPress for some of my sites because it can be modified so that it doesn't look like a blog. There are some fantastic templates available for it, free and paid. There are also tons of plugins that extend its functionality. It also has the benefit of being good for SEO purposes. It takes a little time to learn how to use it but it's well worth it.
OK, thanks for the help. What I am going to have trouble w/ is finding a topic that I could write about for an hour.
It's not about daily updates, it's about solid information without "buy here" jumping in the visitors face. Looking at my bookmarks I see: Forums, blogs (some just update once a month, but they are top notch anyway, take Eli's bluehat blog as an example), sites with realtime information (news, weather, stock quotes, TV), online tools (counters, analysis tools, submitters), video sites (youtube, etc.). So, plenty of stuff. The secret isn't just how often you update, the secret is creating a site that stands out of the crowd of gazillion similar sites by focussing on quality and the visitors instead of trying to make me click ads. Worst thing ever are article directories/sites, they all claim how great and unique their content is, but it's information without any value for the visitors because people write those articles for links to their sites. Always biased and never comprehensive. The best moneymaker site is one you never have to trade or buy a link for, because people link it anyway.
Right, I agree, but writing that standout-from-the-crowd site is always the hardest part. Basically, what I'm thinking is that no matter what I write about, it'll get 5 visitors a day, no matter what the site is about. Because all the popular ideas are taken.
I think its name recognition and giving up the secrets no one else will. THe people I know have always told me something for free that I can use are the people I go back to. One example is Liz Tomey. Shes always putting up movies with secret tactics and they are always valuable.
A good way to get returning visitors is providing them with tools, such as webmaster tools etc. Another good way is to create a project website that goes through the steps of a project. This way you can add new steps to the project on a daily basis and have the visitors come back for more every day.
For me it's simple: if I search for information on a specific topic on a regular basis, and I find a site which provides solid info, with relevant links to other sites where you can find related information, I'll bookmark that site and return to it next time to see if it doesn't have the info I'm looking for before I search on Google.
Wow...g8 question.............if u r interested means................so u want to have interested thing something there ...........it makes many of to get back
My brother has a site and he uses joomla 1.5 this makes it easy to update and administer from an administration panel.
Content and new material makes me go back . I always try to maintain that on our web site. Content rules.
I have to say content, and it has to be quality content. My personal site has been doing well now because of unique content. How do I know? I look over my logs of visitors and follow up with the visitor.
When I bookmark a site it's because it has a lot of good information and is easy to navigate! Also if it has links to other good sites and sources for information.
