Kyliemeg : just wondering what you do about food... Do you buy all the food ? The simplest thing I ever did to cut down costs in my life is when I started using home-grown food. All you need is couple of square meters and you are good to go for family of four ! Also take a look at sprouting. Seeds are cheap and you can have fresh vegetables every day if gardening doesn't suit you. Going to farmer and buying meat with them can be cheaper. Getting a chicken or two is super for eggs all the time. Once you take care of food and be as independent as you can from supermarkets you will see it all comes into place. You even don't put so much gas into your cars ( no need to go to supermarket so many times ).

I am sorry to hear that you are laid off . The situation is really tough . My salary has been decreased too . However I believe there is a solution where there is a difficulty . Solutions are more than difficulties .
As so many other people have already written, I also share your pain. Thank God my wife and I still have our jobs, but I'm sure raises will be few and far in between in the next few years. There is an old saying that goes something like this: 'anything that does not kill you will only make you stronger'. I believe that statement and if it really is true, there are going to be millions of folks around the world that will come out of this current recession stronger - once it finally is over. An old timers told me not long ago that the current generation of people under the age of 30 have never been unlucky enough to have faced a severe recession in their lifetime. Instead, the only thing they know of hard financial times is what their parents have told them and what they learned in history class in school. For thousands of years there have been both good and bad financial times and before you know it, good time will be here again. You just need to hang on for awhile longer.
Sorry to hear you're in trouble especially when you have to support a family ... Don't give up hope, I'm sure good times will come pretty soon for you! Good luck!
getting a job sucks it shouldmt have to be that way but thats life. Working for someone else they will always screw you over its just the way it is. always try to start your own things and take care of yourself
The recession is really bad and its so sad to hear about the amount of people losing their jobs, I really hope you find something, maybe get something that just pays for now even if its not the greatest job, but something that just helps out for a while.
I am sorry you lost your job But please keep thinking positively, if you think negatively and keep wondering how you're going to make it..I believe this brings bad luck and more of what you are worrying about...visulize where you want to be and find solutions Yes, the economy the way it is now sux..but you have to believe in yourself and think outside the box so to speak. If you can write, you can go over to associated content and earn money for articles especially if you have paralegal expertise...you could write legal informational articles for consumers and also make a legal help type website...or even write an ebook about legal loopholes (or any other small legal niche) and promote it on clickbank....your solution is right in front of you....sometimes just hard to see I was actually in the same situation as you, I lost my outside job in September and my husband's hours were cut from sixty to forty a week, big reduction! I have five children and one in college...huge expense...I had to do something and fast. You can do it, just wrap your head around positive images and get started!
Refresh your computer skills if any, and try to get freelance jobs in forums. There are many jobs around here and you can earn a decent income out of it. If you are good in English then you can always write content and earn. All the best. Be Positive.
Feeling bad knowing your situation. We are going through hardships these days. I also had to leave my job some 9-month back and managed to get another with lower remuneration. But there is scope to grow. I am in a new field fully enjoying my current job. I hope, you and your hubby too can get better offer soon. God bless your kids.
It's the same story everywhere. Three of my friends in US lost their jobs in last few weeks. I opened Yahoo finance today and noticed that half of the headlines are about job cuts..AT&T (12000), Credit Suisse (5300), DuPont (2500), Viacom (850) etc. I actually feel good that I am self employed and don't have to worry about a job loss.
The recession has really hit Australia yet. Just in case though I am trying to get things going myself, so that I also do not have to rely on an employer forever. We will see. I guess it is inevitable, the way the rest of the world is going. Good luck to everyone out there job hunting. Merry Christmas!
I hope you will do better here in DP. Recession has affected way too much and it is just a cycle of economy like a cycle of life.... Good luck!
Hey it has really affected my google earnings. I know that. Probably half what it used to be, with the same traffic if not more. Oh well good luck everyone. ps. looking on the bright side. Petrol is a lot cheaper.
You should be happy. You have your husband, and two beautiful kids at home. You seem to be smart. All that is missing is confidence and drive. (which is easier said than done, I know) However, appreciate what you have and things will get better from there.
I am going to contact you privately Kylie. Sorry to hear about your troubles, I may have some work for you to help get by for now.
Trust me, I appreciate the things that I do have and my kids and husband are very understanding. They are not materialist, thankfully. I read somewhere today that the next year and a half, things will get a whole lot worse before they get better. I don't even want to imagine that.
