hi, I have always felt that u need good traffic to put affiliate link on ur site(is it?) Now I have a site related to videos which gets around 250 uniques per day. Is this good enough ? Can someone suggest me what kind of affiliate links will be good for me ? is cj good ? Thanks
More that enough!!! If your site is targating only specific product and you know that the quality traffic that you are fetching will not get deflected away. Our company started putting affiliate links with just 85 unique visiters per day, but the actual response came later through ppc. yaa you need to pay for the quality of visitors. cj is good for us focusing campains. post which area are you targating
Videos/humor/game sites are notoriously poor at converting. I don't think 250 uniques is nearly enough to convert any affiliate links. You can try the usual affiliate merchants for your user base -- ringtones, screensavers, etc. Beyond that you're better off building up more traffic and going the CPM route.
We find that our affiliates who run game related sites manage to convert quite well and I would say that with the sort of demographic that your site attracts, I agree with Jackburton2006 - an affiliate platform that provides ringtones, animated content and mobile games would be the way to go. The conversion also depends on how up-to-date the merchants product catalogue is, we find that mobile content has a limited shelf life, most sales come from the latest chart tones and branded or movie related game titles such as "The Da Vinci Code","Colin McRae Rally","Spyro The Dragon" etc mobile games that are also PlayStation titles do very well when advertised on game sites. So look for a provider that updates their content frequently! Aside from how up to date titles are, another big factor involved in making good conversions is the quality of the marketing material that your provider supplies you with. My advice would be that it’s better to have 250 unique visits a day to a site that has well targeted affiliate links than it is to have ten times the amount of traffic and a bunch of links that are not related to your visitors interests, find an affiliate platform that is free to join and give it a go!
I cannot get affiliates working for me at all! I have well over 1,000 uniques per day (had 45,000 uniques in May) and didn't get a single sale.
What is the address of your site? What affiliated products were you selling? If you get this many unique visits a day (targeted traffic not the sort of traffic you get from un-targeted popups etc) and you are promoting a product that is well suited to your site then I find it hard to believe that you received no sales at all! was it a trustworthy affiliate programme that you were using?
My site can be accessed through my profile since I can't actually post URL's yet! Argh! It's a soccer blog though. joysandsorrows dot co dot uk I use Trade Doubler for my affiliates. I have posted 70,000 impressions but not generated a single sale. Check out the banner at the top for the affiliates. [Edit] As for products, I tend to use mobile phone stuff/casino/gambling/football products.
Hi Affers, I've just had a look at your site and I think if it generates the amount of unique visits a day that you says it does, you could do well with affiliate marketing. There are some very important suggestions that I’d like to make which I think would turn this around for you. Having looked at your site there are a few things that I would suggest. Firstly you have some banners, I saw one for Jamster but I still wouldn't class this as being relevant, well targeted content. Secondly, web surfers are a lazy lot, yeah they will see your Jamster ad and Jamster may well be selling some sort of football related content but your visitors will just see a plain old Jamster banner - They won't make the connection and they won't click the banner! When they see the banner they will think of the Crazy Frog, not football related mobile content! My solution to this is simple - You have a good site, in a popular niche and I dare say a good base of return visitors that trust and enjoy your content. If you want to sell mobile downloads you need to offer football downloads right there on your web page! You need a solution that will display relevant football downloads actually on your site, allowing your visitors to see the item and purchase it in one simple click! Surfers don’t want to go and look for a specific item – They want to see it on your site and buy it there and then! Forget promoting Jamsters own brand via banners, your visitors are loyal Birmingham City football fans who a dare say are also loyal to your web site and willing to purchase from it. You need an unbranded solution that you can plug into your site, you will achieve sales by targeting specific content and by trading on the trust and loyalty that your visitors have to your web site. Right now you have an ideal opportunity to promote England content during the World Cup. Zengo are about to launch a whole range of England related World cup content, including wallpapers, and real tone football ringtone chants! (I noticed that you have a football chants section on your site) I can supply you with a set of very simple JavaScript’s which you can plug into your web page. They will serve up relevant England World Cup content from our catalogue allowing the user to purchase direct from your site. Please PM me if you would like help to set this up, I that know you will see sales from this!
Agree with JackBurton. CJ has good converting merchants for ringtones and other download products. Most pay per lead. Give them a shot.
most traffic of most websites comes from search engines. the affiliate links are therefore normally worth it for the higher rankings. it's irrelevant what traffic comes directly via the links. so long as ur linking to a good and relvant site, i say go for it!
I have made decent $ off low traffic (50+ uniques/day) looking for expensive travel or software affiliate products. Much more than I could make from adsense.
