... okay. Maybe I believe SOME of you. But still - a lot of things are difficult to swallow. Trolling around on these boards, I've heard of... having a PR of 3 within the first month of making a website... to making $9000, $100,000 + just on a few websites using Adsense... And judging from my own experience - I've fallen far behind. On my OWN personal site, I have about 8 mo of content... and 2 mo of ads. And as of now - only 3 people have made a click on my ads. I've tried generating content, my website is on several directories, I've submitted to most of the popular search engines - its in my signature in my forums that I post on - and I certainly promote it on Facebook & MySpace. It seems like I've done all the basics. But I'm only getting 20 - 30 impression / day ... with almost no clicks. Is there something wrong with my website? Am I just a n00b whos too much of a sekptic to believe you? What are your thoughts? www.levean.com
That was MOSTLY a joke. But still... SOME of the claims posted on these boards seem a little outrageous. Could you see why to someones starting out?
i looked at your site and u have some weird adsthere, you need find a specific niche i am not interested in porn filters, finding sex offenders etc....
Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you... but it seems google isn't giving me a lot of flexibility with what ads are displayed (Or does Google and I just don't know how to use it?)
Wow its a very honest post. Im pretty new in adsense too , I have 3 blogs, 1 PR:0, 1 PR:3, and 1 PR: N/A, everyday I have 3000 uniq visitors, in everyday long most of blogs' ads don't get any clicks. I earn 0.5$ - 1$ perday.. if I'm lucky I get 3$ - 7$ a day. (7$ only once) and Will be very happy if I can make 20$ for this my first month. I realise that joining Adsense is not easy, there are so many things to learn. thats why I join DP 3 days ago only to learn something new.
But still --- having a PR: 3 and $3/day is pretty good ... especially for being new. And thanks for calling my post "honest" - I wasn't trying to be a jerk... its just a little frustrating to try to make a few extra dollars when everywhere you turn its spam spam spam for e-books on how to become a millionaire overnight. I don't buy it. Just like I don't always buy all the claims made on this board. Or who knows, maybe I just don't know any better? That could be the case since my webpage is stuck @ $0.08
I think the thread starter is finding some peoples results hard to believe because he has not seen similar results for himself People do make a significant amount of money with adsense and affiliate marketing I aappreciate your comment about PR in one month. Some people are prone to exageration But with regards to the money earned with adsense, my feeling on some of the posts in this forum is quite opposite to yours I have always had the impression that some of the more seasoned users here are under reporting their adsense income
It's really hard to earn in adsense nowadays that's why I don't blame you for doubting. I haven't seen a $9k check yet personally but I have a friend who's consistently getting $5k a month from adsense, and yes I was able to hold the check
Is the only control over the ads that display ... by the content that I write? Do you also believe that the problem is with the TYPE of ads that are displayed? (they are kinda awkward) Or is there a better way of changing the "ad keywords" that I hear about...?
if you think like normal people definitely you will think all of them are liar.you should think out of box.
why are you and some other hell bent on PR .... what does it have to do with your earnings... The site which has made me more than $ 300 everymonth for the last 5 month is a PR 0 ... i get around 1200 unique everyday and make close to $ 12- $ 16 everyday..... you need good placement and try out different color of ads... @ azabednego : blending doesnot always works for ads... people expect to find blue color for links... the ads on your first post look so blended in that it looks like it is part of the post.... You need to learn to get quality traffic from SE's... they are the one who click the most... plus you should be good enough to go in high paying niche... from what it looks your niche/ads given in the site would be all less than $0.10 IMHO... Go after high paying niche.. ofcourse it would have lots of competition... whats life without competition.... I have sites in every possible niche and some of the articles in my health blogs ranks above wikipedia also ... good quality articles with always get good rank... BTW... dont spend all the time in the forum... read and then go to work.... massive action is required to get massive money.... Ani
I dont know but I think those making real money have sites dealing with subjects such as law and lawyers who pay the big bucks per click. If you are dealing with sites paying .15 cents a click you will only recive fractions of a penny. My thoughts would be to see what categories/keywords cost the most and make a site about those. Personally it amaezes me that so many people spend so much time going after fractions of pennies when there are other more profitable and easier ways to make money.
Thanks for the helpful advice. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the ads should look like part of your post to get better results - but the blue link DOES make sense. How do you suggest I get good results from SE's? Within the past month, ~15% of my traffic came from SE's (and then 40% direct traffic, 45% referring sites) And also - do you suggest I target my current websites into a specific niche? Or should I create a 2nd one? It seems the direction of my current one... is not specific .... but I don't want to get overwhelmed with a 2nd one already. Lastly, how do I change my adsense keywords? To make higher paying ads display?
I also noticed your ads didnt look very relevant to your site. Like searchbliss says use the competitive ad filter.
