Are .info Domains bad for SEO?

I have always kinda thought of .info domains as the spammy type domains and had heard that google dont rate them the same as .com or .net.

Is this true? Is it harder to get a .info on the front page of google?

I don't think it matters, I have a .info that ranks better than my .com although they have basically the same content

.infos are used a lot in the BH world so they are considered inferior to the main TLD's

With BH stuff a .info is likely to get removed from google a lot faster than a .com/net etc

However i only think it matters with weak sites. For instance is BBC.co.uk was actually BBC.info i dont think they would have any issues at all... but if you put your weak BANS site on a .info i would imagine it would have more issues ranking.

.Info's by themselves are not bad.

Would you condemn a venture to failure even before it got underway just because it used an .info ? Obviously no.

.info domains are information keeping sites.
When they are used as commercial sites or link farms they are not rank well. That's why this concept may have built up.

I think there is no proof about this idea.

There's no doubt that a higher percentage of .info-sites are spam sites due to the fact that they are extremely cheap.

But I have not seen any fact supporting a theory that a .info domain should be harder to rank than a .com domain. It should be noted however, that Google had a slip earlier this year that made all blogspot.com and .info domains dissappear from SERPs. This indicates that at least Google are keeping an eye on .info domains.

i have a tonn of proof to show that if you put spammy stuff of info sites it gets removed from Google FAR FAR quicker than a .com! This shows that google monitor infos more closely! Whether that means its harder to rank with normal sites then who knows ...

But come on $6 isnt much for a .com anyhow :D

Why would a domain name affect SEO, only thing I would expect it to affect is the ease of remembering, most people remember .com the easiest.

TLD does not matter for SEO...its just the fact then when a consumer thinks of a website...they will think .com 99% of the time.

TLDs don't affect SERP. Whatever it is, it won't hurt your site. :D But take note, most internet users easy remember URLs with .com in their domain.

Yes, .info domains are not bad.
It depends upon the server rather than a particular site.

Have used both .com and .info and there is ZERO difference. Don't waste your money on .coms. Seriously.
