Is design/ development of websites still lucrative/ profitable business? Anyone doing design/development business, please share.
Yes i used to do web designing biz. And it quite profitable. I'm getting more order than i can handle each day. So i outsource some of my of order to other designer
work hard and it's definitely profitable. There are a lot of people who pay me handsomely for decent designs ( obviously not from DP).
If you got talent, web design and graphic design can be a very lucrative business. And many of the old time web and graphic designers are the worst because they don't seem to keep up with modern design trends.
Yes it is rather profitable but day by day are more and more webdesigners on the world so hurry up, bcs it will be full of experts soon ...
It all depends on your level of clients, I ran a web dev business for 2 years before I sold out it was a great time but with the rising competition web design and web dev are moving the way of "the blue collar job".
I just started doing freelance / consulting web dev work. Right off the bat I have too many clients, but being in Boston will do that. I bill around $60/hour typically so yea, profit.
It's a good thing you are paid on a per-hour basis. In the Philippines, we are paid on a per-project basis.
A lot of people still do per project payment. Here is how I usually quote my clients. --set my personal rate at $20/hr --estimate how many hours the project will take. --add 20% to that because I'm wrong and something will come up. --include hosting, seo, or other services they want (always upsell!) --then I have my price. --so, for example, if someone wanted to start a blog with a premium theme and 10 articles: -8 hours for styling blog -8 hours of writing -20% of 16 is 3.2, so that's 19.2 hours * $20 = $390 (rounded slightly) -Hosting contract of $100 per year (which I'm usually getting a commission on) -link building, SEO, etc. (I usually outsource this) - $50 so, for that kind of contract, I would charge around $540, and if they really wanted to haggle, I could probably drop to $500.
yes its good but you should need to enter into all aspect of design like flash, web, static and dynamic design
