Something weird is up - for the last few months I was consistently getting about 200 -300 hits a hour or about 25- 30 every 5 minutes from Google. It never really changed much. In the last couple of hours it has gone up to 600 a hour - about 50+ every 5 minutes. I looked at the search links I do not see anything really different in there ie. I am not all of a sudden getting a ton of traffic from new terms they are all pretty much the same just a lot more traffic. Did they just start rolling out a new algo or something ? Anyone else notice traffic fluctuations in the last couple of hours ?
yes you are right i have noticed it yesterday and my website ranking dropped and my sub domain got disappeared from ranking
Maybe your high listed on some popular keywords? Check it out via awstats Which program do you use to analyse the stats btw? Greetz
it's winter in europe and the states... people spend more time in their homes and at the computer. peak season for online marketing sales/leads/clicks
Yes, even I have noticed increased traffic .. even though some of my sites dropped in rankings... Good season for webmasters I guess
funny you should say that today.... we posted this on the blog this morning, noticed some more possible tweaking the algo dials in the serp late last night
The Google rankings are always changing. Matt Cutts claimed that Google made about 450 algorithm changes last year alone. So I think you just ended up on the positive end of an algorithm update. I doubt it has anything to do with seasonal keywords or extra people on Google. It is purely about an improvement in rankings and the resulting traffic. The amount of traffic from a keyword can vary a lot from #10 to #1.
Nice catch. They are messing with the results almost everyday and it's a huge confusion right now. Hope they get it right soon.
Nice article. I also noticed that one of my index pages which was in the first page of google disappear completely in the last 2 days.. Only the sub pages are ranking .
Impossible. Users get different results everyday now! Imagine regular users searching for something, finding it at page 2, and 24 hours later they can't find it again. Not so good for Google.
