The commander-in-chief has shown his regret about war in Iraq... So, war in Iraq is a bloody mistake? What do you think?
The whole country was ravaged and the people of Iraq have been made to suffer a lot...Their social life is totally gone.....AND it all happened DUE TO A MISTAKE !!!!
That's a deliberate intelligence failure.. He needed some reason to invade Iraq.. that's an excuse of him (WMD)
In all fairness to history everyone believed Saddam had WMD. That was the best and prevailing intelligence from the experts. Possibly the best discussion on this comes from the 60 Minutes interview with the guy who gained Saddam's confidence while Saddam was in prison. Saddam faked out the world. He wanted Iraq to believe he had WMD, and he didn't believe the US would attack Iraq. Did the administration overstate the case about the threat of nuclear weapons in order to attack Iraq, is in my mind the more realistic question. His defense advisers had all stated that they wanted to create regime change in Iraq. Bush bought into those advisers and acted. That is what he should regret, IMHO.
yups war on iraq was based on baseless facts of nukes being possesed by them and after all the attaemtps and sadams assasination --the Us didnt get hand on any of the nukes. SO Why was the war on iraq?? Just becaue Sadam refused to do what US wanted them to do ? Was The war an attemt to control the Oil Market of the world. these questions are still unanswered and Bush might regret -- but still an answer to this wld have helped a lot
No, you are wrong, not everyone believed he had WMD. That's a big fat lie I've heard over and over, and I'm sick of it. Many people did not believe it and said so.
Thraxed: I only vaguely remembered Kelly and sourced the Wiki info on him...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr_David_Kelly. It does not make him out as an authoritative source debunking WMD. I don't support the war effort. Regardless, the best evidence available was that Saddam had WMD. He admitted he faked out the world. The major reason was to keep Iran worried. Saddam went on to say he never expected a US invasion. While Bush says that he regretted that the war occurred despite no WMD, what I'm saying is that Bush should have regretted his belief in the actions and advice of his advisers who pushed for the war in Iraq. He was probably inclined to go with their advice, after all they were the advisers he picked. IMHO they vastly overstated the case and went to war as a matter of choice rather than need. It was a terrible decision.
Ah ok, but the UK intelligence was the opposite, Kelly said: "They are not mobile germ warfare laboratories. You could not use them for making biological weapons. They do not even look like them. They are exactly what the Iraqis said they were - facilities for the production of hydrogen gas to fill balloons." And of course, a few days later he was assassinated.
