What is the best practice with forum linking. Is it best to put your links in the signature area or in the body of the post? How would you compare these links to comment links or article marketing? Would you recommend investing the time in forum linking?
the way yu are using your signature now is fine but just to let you know, forum signatures dont really worth much and pass very little (if any depending on how many posts you have) link juice
That is interesting. I have see other posts in here where people swear by forum linking. The reason I am asking is I am in charge of coming up with new linking techniques for my company. I don't want to dedicate company resources to something that adds little value.
Exactly. The people who are telling you this are saying that because they are either guessing or they heard "someone" say it. I have found my own forum signature links on the first page of Google in the past! Please...don't listen to everything you hear about backlinks. A lot of it is just not true. I got an article to number 19 for a keyword that has MILLIONS of competing results in Google. 11.1 MILLION, to be exact. Using methods that people say "don't work". Hmmmm....how did these "worthless" link building methods move my article up 11,099,981 spots in the Google Index?
Based on my experience ... Signature links will not increase your PR but will drive a bit of traffic if you participated in forums with a lot of users.
my exp suggest it will help to increase back links support and ultimately affect your ranking and traffic
Forum posting is good for getting your pages indexed quickly and can help with SE rankings, but I wouldn't rely too heavily on forum posting for improving SE rankings.
Forum linking, in my experience, only makes sense when the post makes sense. Otherwise people won't follow the link. Google and other SEs will not rate it anyway, so do a quality work.
Great topic. Thank you for the clearificatoin AngelaE8654. Forums can be the best place to find answers/solutions and the best place to find mis information. I noticed you have almost 1000 posts on this forum. So the high amount of posts will help... but I feel better about the end result. I feel like the point is; Post with a signature, get some hits, but don't make posting on forums your money maker. I guess I should make a signature then....

Forum Link Building tips (it's not just your signiture!) Is a thread I started a while back that IMHO is worthy of being read if you plan on linking with/through forums. It shows that putting the forum you are posting on first will increase the value of the site you are linking too... One of the few posters I'll read and take as truth... AngelaE8654 seems to generally post through experience rather then word of mouth, and that is something that is very commendable in a forum full of people posting though post counts
