Which one would you prefer? Is one method better than the other? Do you prefer one-way links to your site or hundreds of submissions to related directories?
Hi there siteInvestor, These 2 methods are really importance in terms of link campaign. for me "hundreds of submissions to related directories" much better, the more link of your site you have, the more chance of traffic back to you.
Pay for links embedded within the content of relevant pages of relevant websites. Directory submissions, article writing, press releases work for yahoo and msn, but only for the short term in google, unless you are not targeting a particularly popular keyword. If you want sustainable high rankings in google then your link building should focus around links within content - mix up the anchor text and try to make it look as natural as possible.
Also keep a track of all links you get, ake sure your links stay - because in google, its the AGE of the backlinks that is a big factor.
The answer is quite simple: it doesn't matter which one you prefer, because you need both! 1 - The web directory submission is a "must", if you want to start without investing in promotion. 2 - The link building, in the majority of the cases, implies high costs, especially if you're doing it on an ongoing basis, for a long-term result. If your goal is to be well-placed in the Search Engines, you won't ignore none of these two methods.
