It may have thousands of links pointing to it, but to be honest 3 pages, that not much I would probs say it has used black hat SEO

Yeah that's funny. Google doesn't even show any links for that site.
According to Yahoo it has 98 backlinks. And the site doesn't look like redirected so the pagerank is valid.

    This is really weird.

You have to remember, that the present PR mirrors the situation from September(?), so we do not know
the number of the links or pages from that given time.
Actually, that could have been the different site on that domain three months ago.
So it is not necessary BlackHat but this PR is rather a week one and can easy disappear with the next update.

That domain is registered about 3 months ago. Is there a new blackhat trick that we don't know?

Good thinking. If it is an old sites PR then we can expect it to disappear. But the reason I came across this site is because they are trying to sell links on textlinkads.

Do you think we are possibly seeing people buying sites with PR, quickly changing the niche, getting them approved by Textlinkads and selling the links for 12 month with fake PR?

I hope not :) If it is a new blackhat method we must get busy!!

Oh my god... amateurs speculating :)

About 2 months ago Google had a PR export (not an update). I believe the snapshot for the export was in September sometime. The domain is about 3.5 months old, created 15 Aug 2008. Meaning the owner had at least the rest of August to put up links for this domain.

What is so special about PR4? In my eyes, that is a poor PR and not better than an average site. You can get that with 1 PR5 inbound link and that is NOT rare in anyway.

    - No fake PR!
    - No new blackhat method!

You caught me, pure amateur speculation :)

Well I'm glad of this then, for it means it should be nice and easy to get my new projects up to PR4 too!

Cheers Fredrik for the simple truth.

That site has ZERO backlinks according to Google and is barely indexed. So I'll just ignore your comment.

Anyway, i'm sure we're facing a new blackhat trick. I've seen another one today and it was ranking good both in PR and Alexa but the site wasn't even indexed in Google. I wonder how they do that.

    1. Yes but maybe it only had 1 backlink when Google made its PR export. Googles doesn't show all incoming links, in fact in only shows a very small part.

    2. Yes the site is barley indexed, but there is a VERY logical reason for that. First of all the website doesnt have many pages at all. The only pages that isn't indexed is the page 2-5 of ebay items. And the reason why those are not indexed is simply because they are duplicate content of page 1 and home. Exact same content except for the ebay items...

    3. You are free to ignore my comment as much as you want...

    4. This is still not a new black hat method...

That may not be this case but that happens all the time even here on DP, in fact I was going to start doing it last week but had a change of heart.

Buy a domain with PR, put up a site, sell links, next PR update the PR drops, I run off with your money. :D

    I should write an E-book!

PR doesn't rely on content, backlinks is just one of the basis of PR.

Link building is the main basic for getting page rank. So I think it was link with the high page rank sites.
