As you earn more money, in most cases your spending habits change also. So what sounds like a good amount now might not last as long as you think. You would more than likely want to buy a bigger house, a better car, go on nicer holidays, etc. So I think it is difficult to say how much would be enough to retire. It also depends how old you are - the younger you are the longer that money will have to last for. All that being said, i think if i had 1 million now I would still want to work - just make sure i was doing something that i enjoyed.
I could retire with $150,000 U.S I would still run my online business of course because its fun but after I buy a house/hotel in Costa Rica with $150,000 I could retire and just run the 2 businesses
I believe that most people who have $1 billion already don't continue to work to make more money. They continue because they are doing something they LOVE doing and don't want to stop. So in answer to your question if I had $1 billion I would only consider retiring if I no longer loved doing what I did.
That depends on your age. If I'm 20 right now, one million is not enough to live a comfortable life for the next 35 years.
i don't think 1 million is enough, well depends on your age, if your 80 then yea...that's more than enough if your in your 20s like me, that's probably not enough. But 1 BILLLLLLLION...that's a different story dudeeee.....I will slap those that think 1 billion USD isn't enough
I could happily retire with 1 billion dollars. These days a million isn't enough. We are in a recession people!
I haven't started working yet, so it's difficult for me to answer. But in order to not work for money, I'd want to be earning an inflation-linked $300,000+ per annum, which is perhaps equivalent in income terms to investing about $6 Million capital wisely, so the amount I'd want to retire on is about that, I suppose. Slightly scary thought!
300k.....that's like SEO salary isn't it.....you should sell yourself as the best site ranking system Alexa
I'm not greedy. With 300k I would be set for life, hell even 200k would be fine. I would put the money in the bank and live from the interest.
