There are a lot of factors that determine pagerank and the amount of backlinks that are shown. I would say using any sort of free domain may get you penalized for things that are out of your control. Besides the fact its unprofessional you can bet a lot of spammers/scammers use co.cc as well which could have a knock on effect with honest people using the service. I recommend you just go buy a proper domain, it'll do a lot better for you in the long run.

No, they're not being devalued. In fact, Google doesn't put any emphasis or give any bonus/penalty to any top level domain.

If your PageRank was reduced, chances are:

    • Your links came primarily from the ghetto of the Web (forum signatures, blog comments, most directory submissions, social bookmarking/networking sites, etc),
    • Your links were primarily from "bad neighborhoods" such as link farms, spam havens, and so forth,
    • You bought links from sites for the purpose of manipulating the search engine (and the selling sites got caught, thereby having their own PageRanks dropped to zero),
    • Your links had their own PageRank lowered (for whatever reason) and thus were unable to pass as much PageRank on to you, or
    • Any combination or all of the above.
There may be other reasons as well (hey, it's late and my brain's shutting down for the night), but these are the most common.

No, it won't devalue it. It's just not worth it since the links have to compete with so many other links in a typical forum thread that whatever PageRank it does pass on will be minimal at best. (In a scale of 0-10 with 0 being the lowest and 0 being the highest, a typical forum signature link would be like a 0.00000025.)

That being said, they CAN be great for increasing your traffic, as people can (and often do) click those links to see what they're about, because your link text indicates that the page may solve a problem, or because someone may want to learn more about you and what you do.

I think .co.cc is not actually a domain and it might be unranked by Google for that. still, it shouldn't influence PR. maybe your backlinks lost PR or maybe you had too many outgoing links on your page.
