Yeah, since Jefferson died it has pretty much been a downhill slide in DC, with a slight bump while Lincoln was in the office. What I cant figure out is how some of these numbnuts got elected the first time, much less get re-elected. I realize money is a factor, family position, etc... but we're starting to look like the freakin Hapsburg dynesty.

This. I know many DINOs who would gladly come back to the R party if they simply would maintain the personal responsibility, freedoms, and fiscal conservatism rather than push so hard at the 'no gays' portion as the center of their platform.

Don't forget T. Roosevelt and Eisenhower... There was another couple of bumps upward when they hit the WH doorstep.

Going back and looking at some of the things even I said about Palin (the 2nd female to be selected for VP in our history) I can see where I was wrong for saying it. But at the same time I can't see where I was literally "wrong". If that makes sense.

Perhaps a different choice of words would have been in order. I don't think now nor did I think then that she is a complete idiot. She's a governor...... But I wouldn't invite her on my debate team either. Much less elect her to be a heart beat away. Or even be in a position where she "might" have the opportunity to represent the best that America has to offer to world leaders.

And to the OP, if you thin that's bad, try joining chats where they were pro McCain or just plain anti Obama. Forget the niceties, behind an anonyname on the internet they were quite happy with themselves as they called him the N word and said that's why he'd never get elected.

I'd agree with that. I think she got a lot of grief for not being prepared for prime time as far as meeting with the media, but thats a learned skill and she may or may not get over having had the spotlight on her during the steepest part of the media learning curve. That said I dont think I'd make her my communications manager.

There were a lotta harsh words during the campaign from all sides. Election's over... people gotta heal and move forward.
