Thanks DP for all the info - time for me to give back some tips and tricks.

I wrote this article to give back some of the information that I am using to make $100+ per day buying and selling eBay’s most popular items. I am not trying to boost rather share some information that others would probably try to sell to you. Everything I explain in my article / post has basically been gathered from different postings here on DP. Once again thanks to everyone for sharing their tips and tricks and here is mine in return.

This article is created for those people who are familiar with EBay.
    • A place to buy items online in an auction format
    • A place to sell items in an auction format online

I am making $100+ per day in profit from eBay and spending less than a couple of hour per day. Basically the idea is:
You will be bidding on an item and after you win the item and pay for it. The seller will send it to you and in the time your item is in transit you will have re-listed that item on eBay and have it sold. When this process is complete you will end up with around $100+ in profit.

One of the keys to success is to understand the market value of the products you plan on buying and selling. I focus on products that are selling for at least $250 or more during their peak times. I try to stay away from replicas of a product and only deal with genuine items (what I am saying is that I don’t buy iPod knockoffs rather I buy the ones manufactured from Apple, Inc.).

I do my homework primarily using eBay’s advance search options. There are two options that I use the most in the advanced search form that being the “Show completed listings only” and ”Listings ending.” I check the option to only show completed listing only then set the date to a recent Tuesday or Wednesday (in the past) with the time range between 12:00 am PST and 5:00 am PST. This is generally the time in which most US bidders are asleep therefore less bidding on the item as the auction nears closing. I use this information to find out what would mostly be the best price that I could buy an item at in off peak times.

Next, I will repeat the process described above with an Advanced Search on the product targeting a peak time for bidding such as Friday evenings. This information will help me understand what is the most I could expect to get for a given product. Now I am looking for items that have at least a difference of $100 between their peak and off peak selling prices.

Now here is the biggest success factor. Find a Popular Item, one that has a high bid count and / or watch count. How I do this is use ebays-mostwanted dot com (www . ebays-mostwanted . com - remove the spaces). This is a website that I found some time ago that has really boosted my money making on eBay. One this site you can chose any eBay category or provide a search term and the site will show you the 100 most popular items currently on eBay matching your criteria. The site will show the number of eBay buyers that have the item on their watch list and the current number of bids – all this information is in real time!

Too many eBay sellers focus on electronics like iPods since we all know those items are popular and know their market value but I found better success with items like Event Tickets and collectable items like gold coins. I have made $1000’s on these categories. I am not guaranteeing that anyone will make $1000’s but I can assure you that it is very possible if someone like me can do it! Good luck.

Wow nice, thanks for the text and the website from ebays' most wanted.. comes in handy in future

Me too made a lot money with the Iphone...

Bought them for 525€ in a shop (I bought 7 of them) and sold them for 750€ each on ebay (they were all sold out in Belgium)
So in the end, I made 125€ more money per iphone, which makes a total of 875€ ... in just 6 days

You need to click on "Change to a Date Range" in the advanced search form then you can choose unspecified which will get back 15 days of data sorted by end date. You can only specify a time range of the day you are searching so in order to get only the time 12 am to 5 am for Tuesday you would need to search on Tuesday. I miss stated that in my original post. I just wrote the post quickly - I actually left out another setting that I use and that is specify a minimum number of bids to 1 so you only find listings that were sold.

I have a little more sophisticated way of getting this information but I could give away the entire process… I did start with using the advance search form later I found a way to speed up the process. Good luck with finding the right items to buy and sell – that is key! Make certain it is a popular item then buy the item off peak time for a lower amount than you can sell it for on peak times!!

Interesting but one flaw... do you have a plan for if the item is lost or damaged in transit?

Not had a problem with any items not arriving or damaged in transit - not to say that would not happen. On event tickets, I personally know one of the largest ticket brokers in the US so I don't worry about getting a replacement ticket for any event however, if I have to resort to that I would probably be lucky to break even if not lose on the transaction. On other items like gold coins I am very selective on who I buy from. I have been ebaying for a long time - it easier for me to spot a scam and steer clear than some... I am always in contact prior to the paying for the item to make certain I have solid contact information. I must admit my business is growing and I realize that it is only going to get tougher to do all this homework :). The good thing with my growth I could afford to take a hit or two unlike someone starting out.

So people please be careful and do contact the person you are buying from. Remember you can request contact information once you bid or win the item - I personally do not pay for the item (much less relist it) if the seller does not respond to my email or phone call. Good luck and thanks for sketch pointing out there is risk involved but if you do what I think is smart buying then the risk is reduced maybe not eliminated.
