I know Google isn't really made for this purpose, but I've been using it for quite some time now to check my spelling. If I'm not 100% sure how to spell a certain word or phrase, I just type it into Google for how I "think" it should be spelled. If I'm incorrect, Google will return "Did You Mean: [correct spelling]".
lol. I'm guilty of that, too. You can even get google to give you definitions of a word... define:word
I love this application. It being 100% accurate is not that important. It is a better speller than I am.
I use it as alternate for my "favorities" sites. It is easier to enter some short keyword into search box, and click on result, than enter whole (sometimes long) url. And if I misspell something, it is corrected also.
Since finding out about this feature, I've been doing this rather than fire up MS Word (any word processor for that matter) or even try to go to dictionary.com or any other dictionary site. Occasionally Google doesn't know the word (really complicated, obscure word), so I still have to go to a dictionary for that. It's also good for defining stuff by using the define: operator.
Yes they have incorporated such features in Google and almost it has become a ready language reckoner to be used as - dictionary, grammar, synonym etc.
yes this is true. many time in hurry i misspell words but google is always there to help me. I appricate the "DID YOU MEAN : " feature of google.
