The Google Sandbox

Myth or reality, is there such a thing as the “Google Sandbox”?

In theory, the Google sandbox is a filter affect that Google places on new domains to stop a website from high rankings for the main keywords. The timeframe usually expected for the Google sandbox ranges from six months to one year.

Many people believe that there is such a thing as the Google Sandbox while there are many people who believe that the Google sandbox is just a myth.

    What do you believe?

I wish, all this not true but facts see otherwise. I opened a site three month back and I was getting good search results until two days back and webMaster tools show the details but yestreday everything is gone. I don't see anything but still my site:www.mydomain.com has results.:(

As I have said in some other thread, right now I am worried that one of my websites has been sandboxed, since my daily traffic has dropped from 6'500 to 900 in a day. The cause might have been the hosting issues, but it might have been the infamous sandbox as well ...

Btw, I think sandbox is real because I have heard way too much about it. :D

It could be right. Usually a new domain won't rank high for the first months event though you have many quality backlinks.

I'm not entirely sure, but my site is over 2 years old and I haven't really noticed anything suspicious.

yes you right because i see this type of changes in google ranking. i was started website from sep'08. after 15 days its PR 2, when PR updated in sep08. In 15 days i do only directory submission no more work and add meta tags. after google crawl my website all my targeted keyword between #1 to #20. so i can't believe but now i have check after 2 months then all google ranking is down still i work for seo that website daily. so i think this is affect of google sandbox.

I'm not sure that i experienced the google sandbox. It's months ago when I see my traffic drop until just 10% left. nothing changed before on my marketing (seo) strategies, page structures and I kept update my site twice a week. It's suddenly drop to that number. Eventhough now it's back to the track (and more traffic i can get), I still don't know the causes and am afraid to happen again. So, sandbox is myth or reality, it's the one I'm afraid of.

the best way to get out of the sand box if your in it is to pay for your domain for at least two years. The reason folks get into the sand box is usually because its a new domain with no age. Spammers are Known to get a domain for one year and abandon it. I do believe that's the reason. I have been marketing on the Internet since 1994. and am a web 2.0 seo.

You can get out of the sand box with good relevant links coming into your site. and paying more than one year hosting.

I also believe it not to be a myth. They want to make sure that new websites are legit and provide great content and so therefore they are sandboxed for a period of time, depending on how much traffic and what kind of traffic is delivered. That's my theory

I have heard of this before, i have a few new tourism sites sandboxed, but the 2001 domain is fine and all 4 domains have the same seo work done to them.
    Thanks for the advise
