I will provide all information and feedback through this thread. Please submit all questions and submissions through this thread as well. The design is for a site that will sell a fire starter and emergency fuel that can be used for warmth or to cook food, boil water, etc. You might think of the product as a fuel for food storage. It is important that the design feel warm, safe, and secure - almost cozy. I want something that is friendly, warm, clean, and professional. The logo should be designed so that it can be used independent of the overall page design, but I do want it incorporated into your page design. The text included in the logo should be “InstaFuelâ€. I'll leave the graphic up to you. The page should be a two or three column design. If it is three column, then the middle column should be wide enough for articles, blog posts, images and descriptions of products, etc. (That probably went without saying, huh?) There should also be a footer bar. I would love to see both two and three column versions of your designs. Take Examples 1 & 2 as a starting point for the design, but don't copy it, and feel free to do something different. Again, the key is for the site to appear professional, warm and secure. Also, these examples are a little too cold and executive. I want something that's more lively. Example 1 -- I don't like the logo on this site, but I do like the layout and design Example 2 – This is another page of the same site. Example 3 – This is an example of a competitor site. I like the general feel of this site, but want two or three columns instead of one and want something that looks more professional (e.g., no clip art looking animated gif flames) The contest will go until tomorrow (Sat, Nov 29th) at 8:00 pm MST, but can be extended. I will pay for any stock images used in the winning design that need to be purchased after the contest is over.
UPDATE: For the design, take a look at the header in example one. The image is of snow and ice, but it's a suble image -- you almost don't know that's what the image is. Perhaps in the design for this site you could do something similar with a subtle image of flames. Just a suggestion . . .
hi.. can you tell us how about the prize will be awarded, if you choosing the design from various designer ( ie. A for website layout and B for logo ) thanks, andi
I've decided to make the logo and webpage contests separate. You can design both a logo and a webpage and win both contests, or can do either individually. So you may win the $65 for the webpage, OR win the $25 for the logo, or earn both prizes if you design a logo and a webpage and win both contests. Note: If you design a webpage and do not design a logo, please put a "dummy" or proxy logo in the webpage design where the logo would go. Thanks for the question, Watari
You're pretty smart! Yes, it's for a blog. However, I don't want it to necessarily look like a blog since the design will be used for both the pages that look like "blog" pages and the "other" pages of the site which will look like "normal" pages. I look forward to seeing your work.
@Watari I really like the rays surrounding the logo -- it helps give it a feeling that the logo is giving off power or warmth. I like the design with the "tag line" but I'm not sure that I want the extra words on the logo. Will you do a version without the "fire starter & emergency fuel store" words? Also, try something besides the blue globe. I like the disks or globs under the globe, and the fire coming off it, but I'd like to see what else you can come up with besides the globe itself. Again, great job! @willhaynes Excellent job also. I like the blue of the product with the rest of the page's colors. Unfortunately, the actual product doesn't have any blue in it and I think your design will be too dark with photos of the product (instafire). Here are two sites that have the product in it. Site 1. Site 2. I hate the sites and the logo, but you'll see what the product looks like. Can you incorporate some blue into the actual design. @mycompanydream I hope you enter.
Nice designs guys. I like watari's logo, what I would do instead of a logo though is create an ice cube and put a fire around that. I think that'd be pretty cool. Good luck guys Regards, Nick
UPDATE: The contest is going to extend to Monday, Dec 1st, 9:00pm MST. At that time original submissions will be closed. I will give some more feedback that evening between 9:00 pm and 10:30 pm. (if any feed back is needed). Revisions will be closed at 9:00 pm MST on Tuesday. I will post the contest winners Tuesday night between 9:00 pm and 10:30 pm. That will hopefully give anyone who works a "day" job time to work on any revisions that evening. Thanks to those who have already submitted.
@willhaynes Center the page. Lighten the color that borders the page (the part that's black) Return the border around the main product image (the one that is now Insta-fire) back to the original gray. In the header blend (the part with the fire) instead of fading to black on the left, fade to another color -- probably a nice, warm red. Thanks for your work so far, and good luck!
It should be centered, I forgot to add an attribute in the code. I'll make the changes either later tonight or Tommorow morning
