I really don't think many people are so nerdish that they actually follow other posters. The reputation thing... seems a bit overstated. Nobody really cares (above the age of 25) about other forum posters. I have asked many times about success stories on websites and can't remember getting any real answers. Either there a very few successes or people really don't want to give up their trade secrets. Just trying to keep things "real"...
Ok, somehow i agree with you but i have some other points. See first there are thousands of potential customers that are below the age of 25 (Potential Customers), so the reputation deal can work for them. Another thing is that the reputation does matter, when you see a reply from someone in this same forum that is a Mod and has over 8,000 post normally the impact is bigger than someone with just 1 post as the person with 8,000 post just by logic deduction has more time in the forum and more experience. In my opinion it does matter, not that much but enough to help increase the attention readers put in your post.
