Long time to go for people start using GBuy as their primary payment system - most eCommerce websites out there has integrated Paypal with their API system - it'll be a major change to get start using GBuy also - and moreover, as usual - Google's GBuy will be in beta for yrs !
Come on Gbuy. I am waiting in the wings for more purchasing power. Go Google go!!!!! keep hammering away at your competitors.
Sorry I didn't see this thread when I posted the Gbuy one yesterday. It will take off pretty fast. Two Things If i can remember from the top of my head. 1)It will initally be free, (no transaction fees) 2)On google search, the merchants or sites which accept Gbuy, will be mentioned meaning that these merchants are safe to do business with. Who knows, maybe they will put it on their toolbar also. When u go to a site which accepts Gbuy, a big green indicator lights up just like pagerank. This site accepts Gbuy. I can already see Anti Trust lawsuits in the future. If u remember, Mircrosoft was ordered to pay a few a few Million Dollars per day until they get their stuff straight with their browser, so the company just decided, that they will just keep on paying the fine indefinately. LOL.
I think when it launches on June 28, they will have a welcome kit as well. Looking at your location, Paypal currently provides its service to a limited number of countries. A few of the designers that work with me always ask me how to get a paypal account but I have to tell them that it isn't offered where you live. So lets see what countries GBuy is available in. Some countries don't welcome and support the international banking system or just aren't on any MNO's list of countries to have interest in based on stability, mode of govt, etc.
and lets hope their dispute policies doesn't suck as much as PayHell's, or I mean PayPal's...... Buyers are Chargeback happy with PayPal - even for donations! No lie..
really, I had a dispute a few months ago on a service we provided, the lady wanted her money back and I denied it. haven't heard anything from paypal yet
Well, this was for 'Unauthorised Payment', so either he/she is just a tit, or it is a hacked account (oh, like that was my fault if so)..
Man I don't think we little guys can do anything bout it. I'm sure GBuy will be the same. See, the buyer protection comes from Visa, Mastercard etc. If u buy something using Visa, Mastercard, I'm guessing amex and discover as well, u automatically have a money back guarantee on most purchases. if u lose ur credit card, ur not liable for more then $50.00 even if someone finds it and goes out and buys a new bmw roadster with it. so if someone pays with paypal, but the money is funded with your credit card, then all u have to do is make a 5 min phone call to ur credit card company and they will reverse the charges most of the time , while u are on the phone with them. I have done it once looking at my statement and seeing the same charge for some gas i got from the gas station, where u stick ur card in the pump. it was charged twice. the lady, just took off the charge and that was the end of it. in situations like these, visa isn't paying out of their pocket, paypal surely won't do it either. Guess who is the guninea pig?, the merchant. So I am quite certain, that GBuy will be just about the same. You won't get much of chargeback protection from them either if ur expecting it. Becuase alot is not in their hands either.

At this moment i have my paypal account blocked because Paypal says i logged in from a country not on his list. LOGGED . American Constitution rights are denied by paypal (writed in lowercaps intentionally, they are a thief runned enterprise. they let you get the cash in to your account but not out ) I have all the creditcards in the world, accounts on whatever bank you may want, a clean shit, no complains or whatever but they froze my account because some router token from a no-paypal county. Paypal is a legal fraud company and they will collapse when Google will enter this market. And if they keep my account blocked for another 1-2 weeks i will start making money from PayPay anti-advertising. If a PayPal official reads this PM me ... or prepare. Anywhay when they (paypal) will go bankrupt probably i will lose my cash anywhay.
Wasn't that because they shipped with IE, so customers wouldn't have to choose a browser, they would stick to IE, which is somehow unfair trading. However, with Google, you actually choose to go there.
Man it must be pretty sweet to be so awash in cash that you can just keep coming up with product offerings that compete with major, established businesses. While this is great news, I have to echo adnan above, a company can't keep going like this before they start to build an enemies list. Microsoft must be pissed at the new productivity suites G is offering for free. MS isn't known for just sitting around a letting their market share deteriorate, oh wait yes they are.
No it won't. It will pick off very fast. About 30 million members predicted within 1 year of launch. This is 30% of paypals total userbase. How? Well, they are integrating google search with GBuy. Just like Microsoft integrated their browser with their operating system. You search for a site via google. Your site comes up. Big shiny label telling the world, (This merchant uses GBuy), meaning its safe to do business with him. PageRank used to be like this a few years bak if I remember correctly. It was right on the search results. Paypal can't offer this. Merchants will have no choice but to learn the new api and set it up. Knowning google, the api will be quite easy.
That's exactly what it was. The price of windows 95 if i remember correctly was jacked up and it came pre-shipped with the browser and microsoft claimed it was for free. Netscape charged companies to use their browser and offered it free for personal use. Netscape which literally came up with cookies, javascript, netscape 1.0 just got to eat dust because they didn't have the financial strength to compete with Microsoft. Microsoft knew this and stomped on the badly cripled Netscape which was then taken over by time warner, the company that owns cnn, warner studios, aol and god knows what else. In the future, Microsoft tried to argue that IE not just a browser but a vital part of the Windows operating system and there was no way it could offer all of the features it does, if it should be seperated from the operating system.
If the purchase thingie will work the same as their new search then I will not risk letting them handle my money!! Who knows where they'll end up and maybe they'll charge me over and over again for some old thing I paid for years ago, they'll send the money to the wrong address but then again, maybe they'll just fill my account with money I never expected from people I have never heard of........ GEEEEEZ!!!
long awaited , someone to compete with paypal that doesnt care about customers, i want my GOOGLE VISA card !!!
This could be a big competition for paypal as google is set to release GBuy the online money transaction system similar to paypal. The proposed date is June 28th.. Lets wait and watch this google magic as well like many others
