Hello I am currently using the arcadem pro arcade script. And on there i need to download games from mochiads which needs at least 40bytes. I have an account with mellowhost which only gives about 22bytes. Please suggest some cheap arcade hosting that provide at least 40bytes, thank you.
What do you mean by 40bytes, and 22bytes? If its storage / bandwidth / speed then any company can offer you 40bytes. 40bytes is an VERY small amount of data.
coduk is right..you need to really worry about how much space and bandwidth you need and any other requirements that you may have
I think it's ram??? But this is an error i am getting from tying to upload games: Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 22544384) (tried to allocate 44 bytes) in /home2/wshgames/public_html/admin/adminfunctions.php on line 189 It said tried to allocate 44 bytes??? I think it means ram or something.
Dayum - How long have you had that error? It could have something to do with your script, or the way Mellow setup the server.
actually it is saying that it is able to get 22544384 bytes but the other 44 is not there lol - you are uploading games through the script aren't you? I'd really recommend you do it via ftp, easiest and safest and even quickest way - you'll get a similar error everywhere if you do it via http. and I wouldn't recommend that method anyway I am presuming what you are doing because I have experience in errors like that and it usually happened when i was uploading or running a script through http. as for a host www.junaweb.com can host you assuming your games are legal and the games are flash files and you can find a use to any of our three available packages. You can use the code "THANKSGIVING" for an extra 10% savings it should work on our server considering we have double the ram. but you should still do it via ftp, we'll be happy to set that up for you if you need
Yeah i am doing it via http because it is faster. I have about 2000 games to uplaod to. So to do that via ftp i have to download the(which probaly takes about 5-10 hours) then upload the game(which probaly take another few hours. Which takes about 2 days. Plus uploading it by http is easier, paying a few extra bucks to save time is fine with me.
It is what Mellowhost have as their php memory limit for scripts, your script is probably doing a lot of is inefficient. I'd ask Mellowhost if they are able to raise their memory limit (unlikely that they will), but it does seem high for a host so you may struggle to find a higher one. You'll have to compare shared hosts for what phpmemory limits they have.
yea many servers won't allow scripts to run for too long because it asks for a lot of bandwidth, ram, and cpu power and can overload the server, most servers have a limit on their script running capabilities - juna web's memory limit is 64m, we can't set it to go on forever, it would just kill our server and i doubt if there are any web hosts that doesn't have a limit on that and yeah it is harder to download the games then load them, but it is actually safer and less server stressing. I own an arcade myself of about 2300 games lol...i moved servers about 2 times in the past 2 years and it was hell since i had to run ftp overnight lol - so i know what you mean, but it is still the best and safest way imo...safe for the server that is
22544384 bytes is what it means. It is a standard setting in most php installations on servers. It means the PHP script is not allowed to process more than 20MB. This can easily be changed in php.ini on php webservers. You guys are talking alot of unnecessary information. Normally it is a good setup to have 20MB as a max because it will avoid things like seeing people inject a php command using 4gb at once.
Not true actually, he will not get the same result with an httpd upload. He will however get the same results on every (php) script execution. httpd uploading does not necessarily have to be a php command.
i know what script he is using and i was pressuming he was running the script via his browser and i was using "http" as a way to mention "browser" because i find it easier since i was talking about using a FTP client as well uploading through cpanel may cause other problems, the httpd you are talking about, he won't get the same error but the browser can time out or the upload may not be complete
Hey thanks guys. I decided to go with TMZ and it's working out pretty good. A little expensive though, oh well.
