The payment rates per click, have dropped a lot lately because of the whole economic crisis and many people are not willing to pay over the top prices any more. ~ Mike
170 Clicks though, is there any way of improving the adsense, maybe even change the content, any ideas lads?
Yeah, check out the keywords. You may be using not very high rated keywords. Asbestos, and Utah Attorney are two high keywords. (The TOP LIST) ~ Mike
I guess that the content, may be an issue then. You have not provided us with a link, so I cannot comment on what I see. I can only give my general views? ~ Mike
It depends on the niche you are in. But lately even my own cpc has gone down considerably. I've beginning to worry whether I've been smartpriced or it's just due to the economic downturn.
I've got one site that I never planned on doing adsense on, but a script demo I had setup was getting a few clicks worth $1+ each so I threw a quick site together with similar content. Now clicks average about fifteen cents on that site, what I think has happened there is that the site appears to use a low variety of ads and the primary advertiser is lowering the price they pay because they're new and just learning so the original click amounts weren't intentional. On the other hand, I have a site that was paying 2-25 cents for awhile that now pays 8 cents to about $2 a click. I think it just shifts with the times and who's advertising.
Yes, have a look at http://www.highpayinggooglekeywords.com/ to give you an idea why your ratio sucks. Is that the average for your site or is it surprisingly low.
As far as I know, The PPC model automatically bids 1 cent above the next bidder. So how can there be primary advertisers? Although some ads definitley give a better CPC then the ones shown with them. I am not sure if it is their "quality score" or if there is another reason.
My thoughts behind primary advetisers come from always seeing the same banner images when I do maintainence on the site at home, or look at the site on someone elses computer. Granted I've not looked on a huge variety of computers, but the dozen or so I have seen it on personally, or inadvertantly via screenshots on other issues seem to have one or two banners that are always there.
Ok, so you use banners. That explains what you meant. I tried banners too. All sizes of text and all sizes of banners. I found the large square text ads had the best CPC. I combined that with the Google hotspots map and got up to $500 per day. Unfortunatley I started using PPC traffic on my site and got banned. OOPS
Yeah I know what you mean. My niche was web hosting and mortgage loans and the CTR was higher with the large text block.
