That sucks, I'm sorry to hear that, at least you didn't lose anything. It could've been much worse.
Are you using joomla for some of your sites?

    you get done too??

not using joomla at all. all blogs are WP and review sites are just static HTML.

pretty lucky tbh. if it was a melicious hacker i would of lost quite a bit!

he just inserts a new index.html with "by Iskorpitx" in plain text.

    all hosting on dreamhost btw.

You should probably contact DreamHost to figure out how he got in ... you need to fix that problem or it will just happen again.

not WP. he only inserted a new index.html

wordpress was not hacked at all. db's were left in tact. all i needed to do to fix on WP was delete index.html. very easy.

all other sites which a few only have 1 page (index.html) were also overwritten.

nothing to do with wordpress imo. unless he used some kind of wp exploit to gain access to my dreamhost server.

mate, sorry to hear that ...

the first article that i read from that google link suggested the exploit could be run in wordpress perhaps ... but if you reckon it wasn't through wordpress then who knows ..

anyways, wordpress now has the ability for stronger cookies which should make exploits ever harder ... more details here - http://wordpress.org/support/topic/170987
