Target US Only Or Entire World In PPC?

I am a bit stumped right now with my clickbank. I've just about completed my analysis on PPC marketing and so far the only thing I can conclude is that in order to profit I need to avg. 20 cents max per click for just about any product.

It seems the only way to get massive clicks and make this extremely profitable is to target more than just the US.

Do all you PPC's target more than just the US to achieve clickbank sales, if not what other countries do you suggest?

Currently in the Forex niche and a lot of the keywords are about $1-$2 per click.

I've managed to maintain about break even in the content network at about 50-75 cents per click.

It just doesn't seem profitable and I am looking for a possible solution to this and right now, I can only see targeting other countries with my campaigns that are producing to drive more traffic at about 20-30 cents per click in the content network.

    Any suggestions?

In my opinion its not how much traffic you get but the quality of the traffic you get. Sure i could spend thousands of dollars advertising and get millions of visitors or whatever but if none of them want to buy the product then your definitly not going to make any money. Also I personally do not promote exact keywords (example in the forex niche) i would either try to find keywords that are cheaper that could lead to a sale or some other words that dont necessarily promote the product but have words that people type in search engines that could be related(that part in my opinion is the hardest finding a keyword no one else is using that converts...)

I personally dont even like ppc i prefer social book marking and seo techniques because they are free and i can play around with things and see what happens

    Hope this helps :)

I run two campaigns, one targeting about 12 countries, US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Singapore, Netherlands, Germany, and then another campaign for the rest of the world. When I start a new campaign, it takes a little while to start getting good US traffic, but after a week or two, it starts flowing. The 12 countries will have a higher bid, probably about twice as high as the rest of the world campaign. I've found that India and Russia will sometimes dominate the rest of the world campaign, with almost no conversions, so sometimes I have to remove them. If a country really starts moving for a product, then I will move it to the 12 country campaign, or if a 12 country campaign country starts sucking, then I will bump it over to the rest of the world.

That's about what I found too for decent traffic, Netherlands, Ireland, Australia, US ect.... I tested India and Turkey, tons of clicks but very poor quality.

What's your AVG. CPC in the 12 countries and is it all content network?

From other posting and forums I am finding anyone making about $400-600 a day marketing CB products is spending about $200-$300 in PPC with around 20 cent clicks in adwords.

I know you can sit at the top of specific hot keywords and try to have a bidding war and the best converting site, but in my opinion it's much easier to go after the content traffic.

    What do you think?

Have you read Perry Marshalls book about Adwords?

I really think you need to school up a bit more because as you probably realise you can lose a lot of money fast with PPC and by the sounds of your posts you seem to be pretty inexperienced at PPC.

You might want to hit up Domaniac as well as I think he's right into PPC and he might have a few tips for you.

Depends on what you're selling. Since this is a clickbank forum, I assume you're selling credit card payable products.

This means you'll want to target the older EU countries, UK, US, Australia and more.

Although I disagree with the above post about India. People in India use PayPal a lot and will pay for the right products for the right price.

You really shouldn't target India for digital products, as any indian can tell you.
Stuff like ipods, cell phones and clothes move really well here, but ebooks are considered a waste of money.

I use the content network exclusively, one campaign will be keywords, and the other will be selected placements. I use only image ads, and get about .11 clicks for the 12 countries, and .04-.06 clicks for the rest of the world and keyword content clicks. The selected placement campaign for the 12 best countries is my real money maker due to good CTR, but the others turn a profit.

When you say image ads only, is that for the keyword campaign or for the placement campaign.

I've tried the placement campaign targeting all article directories and other related websites, however the impressions are low and very few clicks. I used the Google tool to find placement sites and I am on just about every Forex site. I find it really hard to believe that I can only manage 2-3 clicks a day using site placement and being on just about every Forex Robot related site Google has to offer.

I am now at about 28 cents per click AVG across the content network. I am sure I can drop lower if I lower my Max CPC.

When getting 11 cents on the content network, what is your MAX CPC at? I am afraid to drop mine much below 30 cents due to the fact I may receive a lot less clicks.

    Your response is appreciated.

Hi everyone. I made a killing on "waterfuel" products back in March/April/May, i used only the content network. I targeted USA, UK, AUS, NZ. My CPC was around 0.20. Made a 400% ROI. Used a review-style lander with 4 products. Then, as we all know, "waterfuel" products were proven scam and i sunk like the Titanic....

I hear bad things about the Content network all the time, but it really can turn a healthy profit. I`m also having difficulty promoting Forex on content, my CPC`s being around 0.40c and i only get around 10 sodding clicks a day. What do you guys think the best way to set up a Content (search) campaign is? Should one have 50 broad keywords in each ad group, or less?

A strategy that has worked for me is to:

    1. Use image ads only
    2. Make an image ad for every possible size
    3. Find every closely related site/Placement you can
    4. Use Preferred CPC instead of Max CPC

Use the same image ads for a keyword based content network campaign, just set a lower Preferred CPC.

The same rules don't apply to the content network as to search network, which is what trips up most people. You need different ads, different keywords, different bids, different expectations. I have tried 500 specific keywords and 5 to 10 broad keywords, and I find that with the right ad, the broad 5 to 10 keywords does better than the 500 specific keywords.

    Here are my thoughts:

    1) I like the idea of image ads only because this will keep your content ads from appearing in things like "gmail"

2)I've tested the broad match, and then ran a placement report and found that my keyword "forex robot" was appearing on robotic sites that sold robots. Because of that I now only use phrase match with two keywords, one with "forex" and the other "trading" "robots" "automated" ect..... this seems to ensure your ads do not appear on random sites that have nothing to do with your industry.... however I could be wrong as Scot is having good success with broad match.

I wanted to ask you, do you direct link with your image ads or send your clicks to a lander?

I am at 47 clicks today so far at 23 cents AVG, 9 hops and 0 sales

I usually select the US, UK, Canada, & Australia when using AdWords as they are the biggest English speaking countries.

Yep India can bleed you dry, I found out the hard way. One little gem to also try is New Zealand.

You'd be surprised by the amount of conversions via Entire World will do.
