I think that it has something to do with the security of your blog.

I have updated my blog to 2.6.5 with the automatic upgrade plugin without any hassle. Great plugin and great wordpress.

Think il upgrade now, might give that plugin a try too.

Although http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/ Compatible up to: 2.6.1 makes me wonder

Shouldn't the upgrade plugin be as up to date as the 2nd most recent wordpress upgrade at least?

Oh geesh, not ANOTHER upgrade!!??

 

You only really need to take wp-includes/feed.php and wp-includes/version.php .

 

Even if I'm still at 2.61?
Or does that only work for those on 2.63?

 

I you're at version 2.6.1 and the current release is 2.6.5 then you're behind and only upgrading those files will not give you all of the fixed between 2.6.1-2.6.5. Could even mess up your WordPress. You might as well just upgrade all files.

Remember guys, before making any upgrade of your blogs ALWAYS do a backup of the database, if you run any auto-upgrade plugin a database backup its really important, because bad things happens.

I would recommend to you this plugin:http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/

Or just go to your hosting cPanel and use the Backup wizzard to make a full backup of your site.
