My site has come under spam attack so I need to install a CAPTCHA form, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good free one?

I think you can use any capcha, because all capcha version only detect human or robot. It antis flood by attacker (robot)

Captcha ZDR has worked pretty well for me so far: http://www.webtoolbag.com/captcha-zdr-powerfull-captcha-tool--r70.htm

All captcha scripts aren't equal. Many of them have been broken: http://sam.zoy.org/pwntcha/

    I've noticed "Re-Captcha" is easy for end-users.
Does anyone know if it is also good at stopping bots?

Not sure about that, but so far from my experience I've been very happy with reCAPTCHA and use it in all my sites. They are very easy to install for my comments, contact forms and so on.

This is a general question about all solutions, not specifically about "Re-Captcha"
    ``

I have at least one useful (little known) Open-source software in which part of the Captcha related code (the actual 'form') needs to go in a template file.

The 'dynamic code' (which reads the result) needs to go in register.php (for example)
I've tried for many hours to get that to work (based on 'example.php' files) and I'm not yet able.

    > In general, would you (or anyone else) consider this a basic, medium, or advamced PHP topic?

Hi, dear, forget this captcha from webwizguide... I have placed it in my guestbook and got 380 PAGES of trash placed by robots using it... that´s why I am looking for another one. :(

Maybe this -all in one file- php form with captcha helps you. There is also a demo on that page before you use it. Url: cafewebmaster.com/node/178

I am a fan of Mollom if you do not need more than 100 solved per day. You might consider putting Mollom on your text boxes (comments, posts, etc) and recaptcha on your signup and password recovery boxes?

Hi. Guess what? Ticketmaster has decided to stop using the Captcha program used by many internet retailers. Instead, it will go with New York start-up Solve Media's advertising-based system that deals with more natural speech. Ticketmaster, our planet's largest online ticket retailer, has grown wise. Rather than continuing to bother users by requiring them to enter nearly illegible nonsense terms in order to prove they're human rather than a spamming robot. I think it would be much easier. :)

I like this one: http://confidentcaptcha.com. Visitors just click on a few pictures to solve it, so it's much easier than those distorted word captchas. Also, you have the option of earning $$ with advertising in the captcha.
