su is best way to get lots of traffic. Recently su hs changed the algorithm, so there are lots of banning of users. And also their traffic is also low now.

    1. Yes.
    2. There are many Stumble articles every minutes. Visitor always look for new articles. The next day or after 24 hours, your stumbled article may be "old" and that is one of the reasons why the traffic like almost stop. Exactly like the results page when you do a Google search, will you looking into sites listed in page 3 and above? Most probably no for most of us.

I find it also depends from the few experiments I've done in the last week that it depends highly on the category you submit your page too, one that many people will have selected to "stumble."

I'd add that you'd also better be giving out thumbs down on the pages that deserve it.

the visitors usually graze around on that site and you have to really entice them to make them stick around ..think..think..think

Share the page, also define a waste of bandwidth. If SU is a waste, then so is Digg & the rest of the social networking sites out there, as they are all pretty much fickle about sticking around anyplace.

Then again, how do you truly know it was ALL a waste? When I stumble I am generally looking for a quick fix in the way of humor or a quick interesting read. If something catches my eye that does not give me that quick fix I'll book mark the page and go back too it.

In fact, that is how I got one of my forum members from SU. They found a thread, thought it was worth reading, but didn't want to take the time. They bookmarked the page and continued on looking for a quick fix. I'd not have known that had I not become friends with the person, so that makes me wonder if I have other members that found my sites through SU.

I get MUCH higher results from Google and the like, but *shrug* I'd call none of it a waste. I've yet to have received any visitors from a Directory, yet I've submitted to hundreds of those, lol. Are those a waste?

LOL, I've not written any pages worthy of a thumbs down *snicker* At least not by my own standards. Though yes, I do give them when I think they are deserved.

It all boils down to having your site sticky, so your visitors from SU will come back for more
    My 2cents worth:)

Like I said in an earlier post on this thread I did an experiment on this with a site of mine that wasn't very busy. I got a lot of traffic from StumbleUpon for a day or two and then it died. But to my surprise it has come back again and although not as massive as the initial blast it is still many times more than normal.

from a strictly traffic standpoint my personal site does very well, but i do agree it would be hard to monetize this traffic unless you had a very compelling page

To show you are a person of interest, so people will want to read what you bookmarked, you should bookmark other peoples articles or websites on different topics than yours.
