how many use Amazon Shop from Ghostscripter.. ? and what do you think about it. im thinking of buying it, and need to know little what is good about it, and what is bad... So if you using it give me some info about it
I will probably take a lot of heat for this, but... 1. Documentation is non-existant. 2. Tech Support is close to non-existant. 3. Freekrai ASM2 is free and just about as good.
2. Tech Support is close to non-existant. when i mailed them they answered my mail in a few mins 3. Freekrai ASM2 is free and just about as good. has been looking on that one too, but when im no good at webdesign, the script from ghostscripter comes with a really nice design
Haven't used "Amazon Shop From Ghostscripter" for over a year. However in the past I also felt tech support was lacking? Other than I liked the script ok! Neither was I! However one of the great things about using Freekrai's ASM2. Is that you can learn & earn at the same time. In a year or 2 who knows how much knowledge of "webdesign" you will have gained!
well, i know the basic things. just not good at css and things like that.. the reason i asked about ghostscripters is that they had pretty nice premade themes to use... think it was 4 to choose from.. and i try to make it as easiest as possible for me... and the script seems to be nice.. would be fun to hear little more about it from people that has been using it for awile,
Hopefully GTech will join this thread, he's the Ghostscripter Amazon Shop guru. He knows more about Amazon Shop than anyone I've ever run into. And... he's also pretty damned knowledgable about Freekrai ASM2!
Checkout the larger affiliate networks such as CJ.com, or even individual programs that treat their affiliates better then Amazon... one day cookies and low payouts just doesnt cut it.
There are demos of both packages online at The Internet Search Engines FAQ. Ghostscripter Freekrai The Ghostscripter there was enhanced for maximum SEO power by GTech. The Freekrai there is a fairly vanilla install. GTech's modifications are, to my mind, the thing which makes Ghostscripter worth running.
Drop over my site at http://www.what-is-asm.com/ and you might learn a bit or two before making your final decision. Same here, I too started with the plain vanilla ASM2 setup sometimes back.
Seems like no one using it, or if they do, they are not here.. please let me know what you think about amazon shop from ghostscripter
I would agree with Will's assessments above regarding support. They have, from time to time, provided support when they are around. For the most part, I've seen more complaints about their support than anything. Amazon Shop is a good script, but it's pretty complicated to get in and make changes to the coding. Like anything else, if you just buy it, install it, and hope for the best, you won't get very far. To make it work in terms of SE ranking, you'll have to invest time to make changes. I spent three weeks creating a customized template for it a few years ago, because I wanted mine to be different and add in some basic SEO features that were lacking. Over time, I created another template to add in new things I had learned. It's a time investment. That's the only reason I know it fairly well. I started working with the Freekrai script a few months ago, but had to set my work aside on that. I think Freekrai is a great script. While it's free, I would pay for it even if it had a price tag. It's a good script, coded very well and much easier to work with IMO. Roger did a fine job with this script.
so what you really saying is, as me as a newbie that dont know much about php and cgi only having basic knowledge of html it better for me to go with freekrai's script rather then ghostscripts.. i was asking about ghostscripters because of theres already premade templates.. but its mayby easy to make a nice design for freekrais too. i have to check out that script little more, and see if i can get something to work witih.. my site will not be in any special niche, just a directory of things they can buy... was thinking little more about starting a site, try to get it little SEO optimized, then buy some traffic for it... add some ads on my site, like google ads, or clicksor and hopefully make my cash back.. that was my first thought about this, when i started to read little about it..
My payouts went up since then. I did nothing to adjust to the announcement either. That was mostly books sales and search box purchases of products. There were some targeted ad boxes clicked as well. Opps, coincidence, but I addded the targeted box ads about the same time as the change. In the big picture, I'm happy. My current amazon store was books with product search boxes on wdsl3. I have recoded that amazon app, FREEBS, to wdsl 4 and added product listings and the targeted ad boxes. The book store and products store pages have search boxes that display all products local. The user only gets to amazon from the product or book page by purchasing or requesting more info which cookies um. I'm expecting more revenue growth as a result. I can still get an indexed page on my site for any product or book that exists for sale on amazon as well. This should prove to continue to be successful in the serps too. Anywho, if ya have questions in regard to wdsl4, the amazon api, I'll help, but I don't use the specific amazon apps mentioned.
I would say either is fine. In fact, Ghost Scripter's may be more desireable since it has some nice looking templates. Freekrai's is not the most visually appealing, but it's not hard to go in and change the layout or design something custom. I find it very easy to work with. Creating a template for Amazon Shop, on the other hand, is not something one would want to tackle with limited experience.
