I installed the alexa toolbar which measures site traffic, and got to thinking: what is a "good" traffic in terms of numbers? Obviously, yahoo is #1, and google is #2. vB is at 25,674. Would you consider anything under 100,000 good? Or, do you even care and think traffic rank is pointless? What's your opinion?
Alexa traffic rankings are crap because they are too easy to manipulate. Some link selling places look at them for link value and some webmasters will pay more for links on lower Alexa numbers. However, in reality, it means nothing in terms of real traffic. Anyone really concerned with traffic will ask to see real live stats from Awstats or other accurate tracking systems.
I think anything below 100k should be considered as good traffic. My health blog is having 300k+ alexa rank and it is giving traffic flow of about 1500/month. UV of about 1k. May be it is going to be better in future. Traffic rank has its own importance but the importance upto you how you measure it.
I think after the latest changes to the code of Alexa, they give much better results... Under 300k i believe is good Under 100k i think is great...
I had a site that was under 100k, it was only getting 1500 uniques a day.. So no Alexa rankings are not accurate at all
IMO, a rank of 1-20000 can be considered good. 20000-50000 is decent. 50000-250000 will be making some money. (I am assuming all the above ranks are genuine). If you have an Alexa toolbar installed, your sites may get a better ranking than they would in normal circumstances.
As i understand it Alexa is a waste of space as it is not very accurate but i will confess that i have added a Alexa traffic widget to one of our newish Forums and this is currently showing about 675k which is heading in the right direction i guess.
