I read that the Page Rank is not important it this true? But I have been at a 4 for a while, what is the best way to get to a 5 Maybe linking to other sites with pr 5?
PR isn't important unless you are link selling, ask yourself what actual benefits would you have with a PR5 site that you wouldn't with a PR4 site... even if you PR goes up it doesn't mean your SERPS will or make any more money. work on traffic rather than PR
articledirectory is correct. Your PR is completely irrelevant to anyone with yahoo as their default search engine, and even to most people that use Google. My wife thought that the green bar was the status of how well a page was loading... when it was grey she thought that it meant some parts of the site were down... heh, in a way I guess that logic does stand, but still it shows that many users have no clue what it is or means. My mother has PR showing on her google bar as well, but she can not point to it or tell yo what it's for. Does this mean I am surrounded by dumb females? No... I once asked on a non webmaster forum for peoples opinions on PR and most of them wanted to know what it meant as most of them didn't know. Work on traffic rather then PR. A completely new site that ROCKS but has an NA PR is a better link then a PR10 page no one has seen in months...
Suppose there are 2 websites, they are the same but domain different. One domain have PR6,one domain have PR0,which one will have better ranking for keywords? Of course PR6's will. So PR is not important? I think PR is not all,but it is still important. PR don't help traffic directly, but it help ranking, ranking help traffic.
Yes, when the ONLY deciding factor between sites is it's PR, then it's important... Take a PR6 site with 100 hits a day or a PR0 site with 200 hits daily. Which is better then? PR should sway the vote, but NOT be important beyond that. Take it with a grain of salt, 99.999% of the people that see that green bar will be clueless about it.
On the whole, you are right.Website owners don't need to spend too much time for PR,they have other important things to do. But base on SEO,PR needs to be considered seriously. If you want taking SEO to get traffic,0 PR commonly means low traffic. That's the reason why lots of people buy links(get good ranking, get good PR).
And one of the reasons that PR is getting les and less important is because of buying & selling links. Many fairly decent PR sites should be much much lower based on the fact they bloat their numbers with "seo". A PR2 site in many cases is as good as a PR3 or 4, and in many cases better. Though, when you do get into the higher numbers, it sometimes does not matter... a link on Coke's homepage will certainly beat most links, especially if it's coke related. A link on DP's home page will beat out a dozen lesser links, but then, that's more traffic based. If you are not buying or selling a link, it often has little to no effect. Quality [content] & Traffic are what people should be looking for.
If your domain have Good PR, means it has good backlinks from high pr sites. And that will help in SERPs as wll. Backlinks from a pr6 will be better than 10 backlinks from pr0. So its also important but not as much as traffic. We can't say it useless
we can get top ranking without page rank. Yes, that’s true but to show our reputation in search engine media, we should have good page rank of our own site. That’s why page rank is important.
So true, I look at PR after the content, serps and traffic. I look at pr as a report card on how google thinks my site is, quality content. to many people chase PR first. I made an article and a month later it went to PR 3, and the title was on first page of google something like #5
I think quality content is king, if you have content thats close to another sites it will hurt PR, Serps and it will have an effect on traffic.
PR is important for content indexing. For most people who don't have huge websites, it's more marginal of an issue.
generally PR is only important if you are selling back links or banners as already been said, and the comments regarding the average Joe public not have a clue what it is are also very true. But if your site is webmaster related, if your visitors are webmasters, then yes it can be important, it gives your site cred
PR is important in Google. Google view it as one of the many factors that rank your page in SERP. Remember, one of the many factors. Of course, if your page PR is good, you can get a better search engine results. Also, webmaster who involves in link trading will prefer sites with have Page Rank.
Pagerank is a joke, it has nothing to do with whether a link/advert will return for paying advertisers. It's not a measure of quality, traffic flow or value - it's completely useless as a grading tool.
PR isn't as important as $$, but PR help you get higher in google, which means MORE traffic which means more money.
Yes, PR is the judgement on how important your website. To increase your PR, you need to keep on build quality link
