Hi Does anyone have some good ideas I could use for my Italy website/blog that I could promote by using youtube. Slideshow seems kind of bland and I don't think a lot of people are into those anymore. any other ideas? Thanks
Italy has some of the most beautiful women in the world. With this in mind, use the old phrase "Sex Sells". Make some videos of sexy men and women walking around the roman ruins, walking along the beach, and enjoying a nice day. What do the cruise lines do to sell vacations? They show everyone have lots of fun. And not just any people. The people in the commercials look fit, slim, trim and sexy. I looked at your site. Personally I think you need more pictures and reviews of places in Italy. Like a restaurant review. You could do these when you and your friends or spouse go out to eat. Maybe add a roman history section? Make videos about some of famous roman sites. Like hadrian's wall - you could do some videos about sections of the wall and why they were built. Videos about the Forum and some of the famous battle locations in Italy. Italy has some of the richest history in all of the world, you could very easily tap into that.
Well, I can make a short video of the Coliseum with some sexy chicks walking around as ~kev~ suggested Slideshow is not a good idea. The perfect thing would be to get someone to film some of the famous monuments.

Hit the road - make videos of you giving viewers glimpse of great places. You don't have to travel far in Italy - goto the may poggios and small medieval towns near where you live. I like your blog! I am not going to tell you my secret places in Italy - just keep telling everyone to keep going to Tuscany (hey they hve wine baths now! lol) If you need a map for your site, which I think you do, they have beauitiful and FREE maps at maponomy.com ciao ciao
Yes the distance matter. But you can solve this problem by hiring some Italian to capture some nice video for you. In return you will pay them some money

If you use sexy enough women and do up a touch fancy, a slideshow can work, and since it seems like you are not in Italy is a good bet. Assuming again you are not in Italy, so need content you can get yourself - also some geeky crap like historical stuff, monuments etc. Not ideal no, video would be better, but if you aren't there you need to work with what you can.
Charge or pay?. I'll launch a travel website this coming year. I produced several shorts on different locations. It wasn't that expensive, as the hosts (a guy and a girl) are also partners in that project, so it won't be hard to launch the site by posting those videos on youtube. I also got some sponsors beforehand. Travel websites are very nice and rewarding if properly executed, IMHO.
