Ideas for a travel forum

    Hi all,

i have just started a travel forum:

    www.aussietravellersforum.com

and aside from the general SEO reccommendations i was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to go about marketing it?

I am submitting to directories every day but will have to wait some time till they are all approved.

I have just purchased a small amount of advertising, but i am on a fairly limited budget at this stage.

    all ideas welcome

Try writing a new article every day and submit it to article directories. Just make sure you don’t submit the same article to 100 different directories or the search engines will see that as spam. Make each article unique. Hope this helps.

To be really honest, you desperately need a better template and design.
It is not at all looking like a travel forums, and then a better logo is must as well.
Or else nobody will take you seriously, and people hardly join unattractive and lifeless forums.

SO i hear heaps of people saying it needs better design, but not many comments as to how the design can actually be improved.

Im new to all this, so does that mean i need a new skin? Or how else can i change the design?

And what is so bad about the logo? Apart from the background, which i have already said a few times will change once a colour scheme is decided on

At this stage a green and gold colour scheme will be implemented this weekend.

PS - Thanks to events for that link :)

Hi, simply don't put a green background, leave it white for the moment until you have money to hire a designer. Simply go to other forums and talk about your forum. Your doing a pretty good job...:)

Look up ezinearticles, submit a few articles and you will start to get traffic.

Add a blog. Look for writers here on digitalpoint. Build a facebook group, a myspace group, etc. Once you have content, Digg it. Bookmark to delicious, etc. Plenty you can do on your own without spending money.

Submitting articles is definitely going to help out a lot with traffic. I would also put together a few travel blogs and link to the forums.
