I've discovered the stats for these sites/domains through Google AdPlanner, that most would be considered to be worth "reg fee". It goes to show that your domain isn't everything when it comes to website success, and that a custom developed site with great content is what it's all about: internet4classrooms.com : 260k unique visitors/month city-data.com : 2.9 million uniques/month medicinenet.com : 2.9 million uniques/month watch-movies.net : 4.2 million uniques/month atdmt.com : 7.4 million uniques/month pyzam.com : 2.4 million uniques/month supernovatube.com : 1.9 million uniques/month experts-exchange.com : 2 million uniques/month kidzone.ws : 200k unique visitors/month oyunlar1.com : 320k unique visitors/month net-games.biz : 260k unique visitors/month funny-games.biz : 630k unique visitors/month
that is really surprising. i always envisioned the url as the equivalent of the location of your business.i thought that even if the site is great or the information you provide is wonderful, it is all for naught if you don't have a memorable location. what is the saying? location, location, location! apparently this data proves shows that there are exceptions to this rule.
Well in Google the domain name is not so important at all. The websites in Google rank according to their links. If you can get thousands of links for a crappy domain (or for whatever domain), it will rank well in Google.
admnt.com hahaha that's an ad server. of course domain names aren't be-all of a successful websites. Domain names are merely a tool to being successful.
Some time you have to play with the domain name. Because all domain doesn't work best at their respective levels. So you have to try to park all your domain name.
I think all domains are good...what you do with them is what counts.. Even dsfsdfvasgvsdvgf.com can become popular Example: You're a multi-billionaire that wins more money per second than some countries per year. You dont know what to do with the money and you're tired of lighting cigars with it. You use dsfsdfvasgvsdvgf.com to give people money for idiotic actions like asking who's america's president. Im sure dsfsdfvasgvsdvgf.com will become pretty popular even if it has the most idiotic domain name ever (and in this case doesnt even need much content or quality content ).
I disagree. #1 EXTREMELY hard to type... without content, people are most likely going to get lost going to the URL. #2 Without direct navigation = dependency on search engine traffic/referral traffic. If there isn't anything on the site, I doubt many people will link/search engines will give a crap about the domain. Probably getting a little bit technical in terms of your example, but decided to post anyways .
Lol, for money people would even remember a 1000 digit domain Anyways, what do you want browser bookmarks for?
And that would be flawed logic. Just because other sites has had success with hyphens has nothing to do with those hyphens. It has to do with what value/service they offered that visitors found valuable. The inherent worth of the aforementioned domain is still nil. You could put the same content and service on any domain, that domain wont have any effect on value and would probably cause a lot of visitor loss long run.
flawed logic? I was referring to the fact that hyphens make no difference to a domain being good or bad in terms of search results etc etc. Exactly how stupid are you to think that anyone would believe that because that had a hyphenated name their website would rank well in google? Your knowledge on the subject at hand is not only minimal but also limited. Have you ever heard that saying, "been there, done that,"? I have, you haven't. Fact! Now, when you have, you come back and tell me all about it.
Sorry, the domain is crap no matter how you spin it. Minimal and limited, yup sure. You're right, i know nothing about domain names
The stats shows the power of a well developed and a well marketed site as compared to only the domain name.
Obviously, you said the domain is crap based on the above information that shows if you develop a website properly then hyphens make no difference to whether a domain ranks highly or not. As i said, i've done it, and I know that you haven't or you would have told me all about it already.
Would I? Maybe not everyone feels they need to try and prove themselves at every possible opportunity? Maybe some people just research who they are talking to. The Domain is CRAP. The value is development no matter how your spin it. Hyphens make no difference, .net makes no difference. Hear same old arguments time and time again. it does make SOME difference because you get bleed. Why would topix pay 1 million dollars for topix.com after building the .net? BLEED. http://siteanalytics.compete.com/watch-movies.net+watch-movies.com+watchmovies.net/?metric=uv Off 2 possible variations (theres more...) they are bleeding at least 100,000 visitors per month. That's only 7% of their traffic (on compete) being bled from 2 variations. I'd say that's a difference.
