I'm not amazed at his placement at all. It will be short lived as the clock is ticking against him now. In only a matter of time, his website will be delisted from the serps completely. Google has great technology to have detected this already and I am sure his site was already red-flagged. It is only a matter of time now until the manual review takes place as his website comes up in their que list.

Oh well though. I guess some of us just learn things the hard way.

Acutally, it's not HIS web site; it's just an ad on a web site. He is listed in "Computer/Telecom/Freelance", so he IS just an individual; not a large SEO firm (replying to previous post stating this person used his mobile phone for contact). Then again, who needs to work for an SEO company? It only takes one person.

Oh, and an earlier comment on this thread also ranks on the first page Google SERPS for "SEO Altrincham" (#10, I think). That didn't take long! There is only 22K-23K competition for that term.

At the end of the rich content on that page, there's a very appropriate claim:

"Number 1 for Websites Design, Development and Search Engine Optimisation in the UK."

Not sure what "Optimisation" is, but I have no doubt they are #1 at it!

Foreign spelling lesson appreciated, I didn't know this. However, one could easily argue with your "original is right" feelings the "z" is correct because the term SEO (defined as Search Engine Optimization - process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" "organic" or "algorithmic" search results) originated in the US in 1995 by Leland Harden. Since you appear to feel as though the "original" is correct, using the "z" is the correct way in the case of this phrase ;).

lol not that I care, above all, I just love the #1 claim on the site :D but it was a nice derailment attempt.

The 1995 reference by Leland Harden wasn't documented or proven just hearsay, Wiki states the first documented use was July 1997 in a Usernet message here. However Wikipedia is wrong, here is documented proof of it being used Feb 1997, 5 months prior.

So another case (documented) where the term SEO is born defined with a "z". SEOibiza, you better let em know they spelled it wrong ;)

Now enough spelling and term history lessons before I'm bored out of my mind. We've established 1 documented and another "hearsay" version of where SEO originated with both being defined as "Search Engine Optimization" both debunking SEOibiza's thoughts that "optimisation" is the correct way to spell it referencing this term. lol, yay? I think the thread is off course. *unsubscribes quickly*

Its always better to do your own SEO I think.. or teach a team of people who to do SEO and what are effective principles.. and you can pay them by the HOUR. I personally think its great to have a team doing your SEO for you but you just guide them as to what they should do, I would have them building links through different means and things like that but essentially doing your SEO yourself is way better than paying a company to do your SEO for you. Its just way cheaper because they arent doing anything you couldnt do for yourself.
