...if I post a link to some website with my "keyword" anchor text on, say, my "home" thread in FB, which has a PR of 8, will this have any SEO effect? I personally doubt this, but what do you guys think? Thanks
Nothing like that. First, the links you post in your FB profile do not lead to the URL directly but to FB itslef, and activate some *** Java script. Secondly, if you use a Google command cache:http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php it will show a PR0 "logged out" page. Google does not have a Facebook account, you see
True. Facebook doesn't use straight-forward dofollow links. They use javascript or something of the sort. You'll gain no PR for any links on FB. The same is true for MySpace.
You wont get any PR from facebook which has been explained thoroughly but you will still get alot of traffic. I haven't even blasted my marketing campaign all over facebook yet but I have published some stuff on facebook and have tracked my hits and I definitely get alot of traffic from facebook every month and its amazing. So yeah you cant get excited about the PR but hey you can about the traffic and thats great too..
Ilexx, You only get traffic if it's something Facebook users would want to learn more about. Be careful when spending loads of time trying to advertise to facebook users, know your target market.
Thanks for the good advice in this post. I never thought of using facebook for link-building and now I know its definitely not worth the effort
will you please pm me your face book contact so that i can add you in my network and please add me in your network too. Please pm me my friend
you mean social bookmarking i guess, like digg. that's different, when the link you post gets to, say, digg first page - now that brings a lot of link juice. + helps you get indexed fast.
Although Facebook links are nofollow, you still can get lots of traffic from it, which is a very good.
