How can I get people not to advertize Viagra on my forum

I have built a new form and I am doing everything I can think of to attract people. My membership is growing but the only post I get are people trying to tell me how to buy Viagra online cheap. I could care less nor does anyone else who is searching my forum about how to vacation on a budget. My forum has nothing to do with sexual enhancers. I do not want to restrict post because that is what I want people to do. But only good content not advertisements. I use vbulletin so is there a way that I can get rid of these posters without hurting legitimate people wanting to post without waiting on an approval. Like a work scanner or anything that will not allow post with certain words.

Enable re-captcha human verification which is included with VB 3.7.4 Also make sure you permanently ban the spammer accounts as you discover them.

You may also want to check out http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/ for tweaks and mods to help you control the spam problem.

    Good luck :)

I recently had the same problem, I set up the captcha and banned them as snowbird suggested and they were still coming, I then enabled email verification and it eliminated them.

Try to ban the IP addresses of the spammers (you have to ban a lot of IP address as most of the spammers use proxy sites to spam) and as "texasflats" suggested email verification can help you a lot. Most of the spammers don't use valid email address.

i was having the same problems so here is what i did to stop them all. It worked great

    First get the mod NoSpam
Then get the mod advanced permissions for user post (it will restrict new users to post to outside links with out having specific requirements)
The last mod i loaded was stop the registration bots

IF you get all of these, it will stop all of these spam post

Maybe you should hire a moderator and keep the forum moderated all the time.
Or you can set the forum to post-moderated-show.
So that the post is not instantly shown up at the forum
