4 to 8.5 percent for most items depending on volume and product category. Some categories are 10-15%, but they're harder to sell or very low cost items (like $0.99 songs)

You need to login to your Amazon Affiliates account and go to the Help section to see the rates for the different volumes and categories.

Yea i agree the comission is very low, what other company is out there though?

I used to do dropshipping, which cuts out the additional middleman (amazon), which made some good money for me, but i have since stopped, lost my contact from whom i dealed with and got stung by a scammer not so long ago, so i want something that is painless and simple to run, amazon and their astore seem to be the solution.

I will be happy if i can tick over at $1000/mo, which surely with amazon it cant be that hard?

IT says that as you sell things you will progress up the tiers, and that it is calculated on a quarterly basis, does the new tier effect EVERYTHING sold in that quarter, regardless of if it was the begining of the quarter and prior to selling enough units to qualify for higher tiers? OR is it a progressive payment stucture, in that you get lower commision on the early items sold, and higher comission on items sold towards the end of the month?

Also, if i was setup for the UK version of amazon, obviously the currency would be in £GBP and not $USD, if a person from the USA decided to buy from me, would they upon purchase be transfered to the US version? and would i still be credited with the sale?

P.S - Thanks for the good information already :)

Not sure if I agree with Christ. Amazon's fees are on average higher than those of other sites (like for example eBay).

It's really not that difficult to cross over to 6% on Amazon if the content is valuable to readers.

Go with Commission Junction or LinkShare. Stores there have a much higher commission than Amazon.

Commission is low and payout takes forever. Time to move on to other affiliates.

I disagree. You can earn easily up to 6.5% which is more than a lot of affiliates pay.

I too am trying at a amazon Astore. I think that the combination of the trusted brand, lowest prices and 4 - 8.5% commision is a win/win. I mean I would rather get 4% on something that converts rather than 25% for something that no one has ever heard of nor do the trust enough to buy from online.

Maybe others have better commisions, but Amazon's reputation is the most importants and plays main role for success.

I was thinking about amazon but the low commission was an eye opener. However, they are a trusted brand and the long payout is only for the first time you get paid. After that it's every month.

I think when it comes to amazon the conversion rate compensates for the commission rate, because people are more likely to buy from amazon than any other online store out there.
